The Extravascular ICD (EV‑ICD) portfolio represents one of Medtronic’s most strategically important growth platforms in the Defibrillation Solutions (DS) business. EV-ICD is shaping the future of non‑transvenous solutions by protecting patients at risk of sudden cardiac death with a defibrillation lead outside of the vasculature.

         

         

To support our next phase, we are seeking an EV‑ICD Portfolio Strategy Leader to help shape, pressure‑test, and advance the long‑range strategy for this critical franchise. This role reports into the DS Director of Core Portfolio Strategy along with the other core portfolio strategy leads and will sit at the center of strategy formation and execution—partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure clarity, alignment, and disciplined decision‑making to execute on the EV-ICD portfolio strategy.

The EV‑ICD Portfolio Strategy Leader will combine strong analytical rigor with the ability to tell a compelling strategic story, influence senior leaders, and lead through ambiguity. Success in this role requires both strategic depth and the confidence to engage, challenge, and align diverse stakeholders.


Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead and set the strategic vision of the EV‑ICD portfolio by building the enterprise‑level strategic narrative and multi-year portfolio strategy

  • Own financial, market, and portfolio models to quantify the impact of investment decisions and tradeoffs

  • Own product and feature prioritization, user experience, end-to-end portfolio strategy components

  • Maintain a strong pulse on the market using market research, voice of customer, and competitive intelligence

  • Build and maintain partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), hospitals, and healthcare professionals

  • Demonstrate strong product instincts, problem-solving skills, and organizational capabilities to communicate and influence effectively

  • Align and partner with cross‑functional teams around strategic priorities, milestones, and decision points

Required Qualifications

To be considered for this role, please ensure these minimum requirements are evident on your resume. 


Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in business strategy, product marketing, or product commercialization, or an Advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • MBA or an advanced degree in the field of medical / healthcare / business

  • Knowledge of medical device industry practices, techniques, and standards (e.g. role of clinical trials, reimbursement)

  • Excellent storytelling skills and presentation experience at senior leadership level

  • Strong analytical, financial modeling and strategic thinking skills

  • Voice of customer / market research and design experience

  • Experience building relationships with customers, physicians / key opinion leaders (KOLs)

  • Experience working in a fast paced, global organization


     

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$134,400.00 - $201,600.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
