The College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA) Dean’s Office is seeking an eager, talented Multimedia Specialist to join the Marketing and Communications team. This position works collaboratively with a team of strategic creative professionals who elevate and sustain the dynamic visual brand that is CISA. In this role, you will work closely with other specialists on the team to provide creative support, designing, developing and delivering visual, multimedia, animation, and graphic elements for print and digital collateral, including the website, social media channels, marketing materials and advertising.

The Multimedia Specialist has a strong understanding of visual brand and its place within an organization. You will provide basic web editing with SEO and accessibility in mind, manage the photo library for CISA, design social media templates, support digital projects with animation and video, and support the visual brand with photography and photo editing. As an important member of the team, you will create your own work and augment the work of others to meet deadlines and goals; a team mentality, strong communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects will be vital to success in this role.

Essential Duties:

  • In collaboration with CISA team members and project objectives, design, create, modify, and deliver multimedia and web-based graphics, as well as some video, adhering to ASU brand guidelines and using the full range of Adobe Creative Suite software.

  • Design and work with existing templates to create materials used by faculty and staff for the promotion of events and classes for print and digital dissemination through Adobe Express.

  • Capture photos at events and arrange photoshoots; provide post-production color correction, cropping and other modifications, as well as tagging and descriptions for the CISA photo library.

  • Provide basic website editing in conjunction with the CISA web specialist, adhering to brand standards, as well as SEO and accessibility best practices.

  • Create animation for use in advertising, presentations and other digital communications, using After Effects or other animation software.

  • Provide assistance with off-site and on-site production for video, photography or audio recording.

  • Engage with basic video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro; implement special effects, composition, lower-thirds, branded templates and end-cards.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media basics to create with appropriate image and video specs, trends and tagging, as well as scheduling in Meta or a third-party platform.

  • Willingness to grow and learn new skills related to brand, marketing, visual identity and communications.

  • Create presentations in Google slides or PowerPoint with CISA brand style in mind.

  • Work closely with communications team members to ensure all copy included in final designs is correct, brand consistent and adheres to style guides.

  • Manage multiple projects with varying priorities and deadlines for a variety of clients, using Wrike to manage tasks and progress.

  • Operate as a vital member of the marketing and communications team, regularly providing communication to supervisor and team on the status of projects.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Thrives in a creative team environment with diverse projects and multiple deadlines with an aptitude for being detail oriented.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in visual identity basics to determine format, approach, content, level and medium to most effectively achieve desired visual results.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of intermediate design principles (form, color, composition, brand), implemented in Adobe Creative Cloud. Illustration skills are a huge plus.

  • Experience in website editing and design, with some basic knowledge of code, within an open-source content management system like Drupal, WordPress or Acequia.

  • Experience in digital photography and video with knowledge of archiving a library on a cloud-based system, such as Canto or Iconik.

  • Considerable experience working as part of a creative team, taking the initiative to assist on projects and augmenting the work of others. Proactively communicates with other team members through a communication system like Slack or Teams.

  • Skilled at organizing work, prioritizing projects, meeting deadlines and operating effectively in a fast-paced environment, using systems like Monday, Wrike or Asana.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and adoption of interactive tools to assist with work and project organization, including AirTable, ChatGPT or Copilot.

Working Environment:

  • Days and Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., evenings and weekends may occasionally be required.

  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions; Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, and associated computer/technology peripherals.

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).

  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 25 pounds (5%).

  • Occasional meetings across ASU campuses and with external partners.

  • May include exposure to external environment/climate conditions including walking on uneven surfaces, climbing and high temperatures. Locations may be interior/exterior in perhaps rugged conditions.

  • Fragile electronic equipment must be transported both manually and with the assistance of portage devices.

  • Operation of video and photographic equipment may be handheld for extended periods.

  • Some equipment, such as lighting and cabling, can be dangerous during operation and setup.

  • Regular review of completed tasks.

  • Hybrid work is an option for CISA employees. Hybrid arrangements allow employees to spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or Provost level approval is required.
