Workdays & Hours: This is a full-time position working at least 40 hours per week with benefits; 5-day work week, 8-hour standard schedules 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; Some evening/weekend work required.

The City of Fort Worth Environmental Services Department is recruiting a Field Operations Crew Leader. This position will be responsible for Illegal homeless camps, Nuisance abatement orders, litter control cleanups, and special projects. The Environmental Services Department operates critical programs that continually serve to manage environmental quality, garbage, recycling, and waste reduction services for the residents of Fort Worth. This contributes to the City’s vision of the “most livable and best managed city in the country”.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma / GED
  • Two (2) years of responsible experience in the operation of motorized equipment
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Principles of training and monitoring lower-level staff and pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations
  • Organize and review the work of subordinate personnel. Train subordinate personnel. Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions
  • Knowledge of data entry systems such as the Information Technology Service Management System (ITSM) and/or a work order management system, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

The Litter Abatement Operations Crew Leader job responsibilities include: 

  • Leading team of both internal and contracted litter crews in daily litter collection requests
  • Dispatching and scheduling of litter requests and scheduled routes to litter crews
  • Operates a variety of motorized equipment, maintenance and construction equipment, and a variety of hand tools. Some equipment requires specialized certification and training for proper operation
  • Maintains records of equipment used and operations performed
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned and inspects equipment before and after each use
  • Coordinating monthly operations and safety meetings
  • Prioritizes, assigns leads, reviews, and participates in the work of subordinate employees responsible for general field operations, construction maintenance, and special projects
  • Providing detailed and accurate operations reports to the Supervisor and upper management
  • Responding to customer requests and concerns. The prompt resolution of high-priority complaints and requests
  • Attending and presenting at Neighborhood meetings. Leading and coordinating neighborhood litter events
