Google API Limited Use Disclosure

Effective Date: March 26, 2026

Aplyr uses Google API services to connect your Gmail account for the purpose of scanning job application confirmation emails and building your application timeline. This page describes how we handle data received from Google APIs in compliance with the Google API Services User Data Policy.

Compliance with Google API Services User Data Policy

Aplyr's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Limited Use Requirements

In accordance with Google's Limited Use requirements, Aplyr adheres to the following restrictions on the use of data obtained through Google APIs:

1. Limited to providing or improving user-facing features

Aplyr only uses Google API data to provide and improve user-facing features that are prominent in the application's user interface. Specifically, we use Gmail data to detect job application confirmation emails, track application statuses, and build your application timeline -- features that are central to the Aplyr experience.

2. No transfer to third parties except as necessary

Aplyr does not transfer Google API data to third parties unless it is: (a) necessary to provide or improve user-facing features visible in the application, (b) done with the user's explicit consent, (c) necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating abuse), or (d) required to comply with applicable laws or regulations.

3. No human reading of user data

Aplyr does not allow humans to read your Google user data unless: (a) you have given your affirmative consent for a specific message (e.g., for customer support), (b) it is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, (c) it is required to comply with applicable law, or (d) the data is aggregated and anonymized for internal operations. All processing of Gmail data is fully automated.

4. No use for advertising

Aplyr does not use Google API data for serving advertisements, retargeting, or interest-based advertising. Gmail data is never sold to data brokers or any third party.

What Gmail Data We Access

When you connect your Gmail account, Aplyr requests read-only access and processes the following data:

  • Email metadata: Subject lines, sender addresses, and timestamps of emails identified as job application-related.
  • Email content: Body text is scanned in real-time to detect job application confirmations and status updates. Only extracted metadata is stored; full email content is not retained.

Revoking Access

You can disconnect your Gmail account and revoke Aplyr's access at any time through your account settings or through your Google Account permissions. Upon revocation, Aplyr will no longer access your Gmail data. Previously extracted metadata (application timeline data) will be retained as part of your Aplyr account unless you request its deletion.
