The Opportunity

The Associate, Procurement Specialist works out of our Lake Forest, IL office supporting our CoreLab business, part of our Diagnostics division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. 

This role you will works under general supervision, procures any combination of materials, services and suppliers used in the entity to support assigned team. Provides support for all basic aspects of purchasing including but not limited to vendor analysis, cost reductions, utilization of the purchasing system, expedition or orders and vendor relations.

You will assist in the execution of the purchasing and supply management strategies created by the Category Managers.  Will assist internal and external customers while attaining high levels of customer service.  This role will work across multiple verticals.  Position will be responsible for Operations and Tactical work associated with the various categories. Seeks ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, and customer service levels.

Main Responsibilities

  • First line responder; pivots between operations and transactional sourcing. This role is the first point of contact for stakeholders and the initial face of Procurement. They will take the request, research, and provide solutions to resolve the need or issue that a stakeholder may be having. If they are unable to resolve it will be elevated.
  • Lead ERP system data management.
  • Manage the execution of team’s procurement strategies.
  • Manage day to day supply issues. Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems.
  • Performs routine professional-based activities for entry level position daily. 
  • Support Ops issues and invoice error resolution. 
  • PO change management which includes the management of working with stakeholders and internal suppliers to appropriately document change requirements to contracts and Purchase orders.
  • Enable supplier integration and KPI's by monitoring suppliers and track their performance, working with senior purchasing team members to resolve non-conforming product issues.
  • Coordinates the return of damaged goods, replacement items or credit arrangements with the help of senior staff.
  • Support process improvement and cost margin initiatives.
  • Collaborates with cross- functional teams to support business operations.
  • Facilitate Procurement organization record retention responsibilities and adherence to global retention policy
  • Ensure organizational compliance with global and divisional policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Finance OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in supply chain
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

The base pay for this position is

$50,700.00 – $101,300.00
