As a Jr. Software Engineer at Carbon Robotics you will work alongside your software, mechanical and electrical peers to build AI and robotics products. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software systems for various electronic devices. You will work closely with hardware engineers and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components. You’ll do whatever it takes - which might include going to the farm - to ensure our customers have reliable and safe products.
What you’ll do:
- Partner with Engineering teams to build firmware on embedded systems for our LaserWeeder robots and Autonomous Tractor Kits.
- Develop and troubleshoot firmware running on various microcontroller platforms.
- Help design and establish the manufacturing and validation methods for PCBs and related sub-components.
- Investigate control problems at the lowest level and learn how to properly tune them.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:
- Experience developing embedded systems in C.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Shell scripting.
- Understanding of embedded systems architecture, including microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C).
- Experience with real-time operating systems.
- Plus Proficiency in debugging tools, such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and a desire to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- BS+ in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
- Willing to travel ~25% of the time.
