The Team:
As part of the Data Quality Team, which operates under the Data Strategy and Governance Tower, we are responsible for overseeing the quality and integrity of data across various systems within the Commodity Insights organization. This role involves coordinating data quality initiatives, prioritizing data validation tasks, ensuring alignment with data governance standards, and maximizing the value delivered through accurate and reliable data.

The Impact:

  • S&P Global Commodity Insights creates over 10,000 daily assessments used for 1,500+ cleared financial instruments that transact in excess of $10 billion every day. We stream over 20,000 bids, offers, and trades a month from more than 450 of the top commodity trading companies globally. Furthermore, we track 60,000-plus vessels live, create over 1,000 weekly reports, monitor nearly 90% of the world’s refineries, and much more. In a nutshell, we have a lot of data.
  • This role offers unrivaled exposure to the processes that ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of our data. You will gain a unique perspective on how data quality drives value across all areas of the business and plays a critical role in decision-making.
  • The focus of this role is on enhancing data quality and ensuring adherence to data governance standards. You will leverage tools such as soda.io to monitor and report on data quality metrics, contributing directly to the continuous improvement of our data assets. You will collaborate with a wide range of S&P Global Commodity Insights teams, including Technology, Program, and Data Governance teams, and work closely with senior stakeholders. This position offers deep involvement in S&P Global’s diverse and inclusive culture, where you can grow and succeed by bringing your authentic self to work.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily data quality operations, including managing rules, detecting anomalies, and coordinating issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with experts to translate business needs into data quality requirements and support issue resolution.
  • Support technical teams in prioritizing and setting up data for quality profiling and monitoring.
  • Review profiling results and assist in creating reusable custom data quality rules.
  • Capture metrics, identify improvement opportunities, and engage stakeholders through training and knowledge sharing.

What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Data Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of data management principles and an interest in data quality practices, including data profiling, rule development, and automation.
  • Familiarity with data quality tools like soda.io or similar (Great Expectations, Soda, Informatica IDQ, etc.) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data handling and basic knowledge of Python/PySpark for data analysis and automation.
  • Basic knowledge of Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
