Department Intro
The Computer Engineering Intern will join a collaborative CAD and design enablement organization that supports Micron’s semiconductor development efforts. The team focuses on advancing EDA build flows, verification methodologies, and automation powered by artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of CMOS memory builds.
Position Overview
This internship is a software development and support role centered on semiconductor and EDA design flows and tools. The position emphasizes both traditional CAD software engineering and the application of AI, machine learning, and LLM‑based agentic systems to automate, optimize, and enhance design workflows across design, physical layout, and verification environments.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, enhance, and debug in‑house and commercial EDA tools and CAD automation flows supporting memory design and verification.
  • Apply AI and machine learning techniques to improve EDA automation, predictive analytics, and design optimization.
  • Define and implement LLM‑based agentic systems for intelligent tool orchestration, documentation generation, and design assistance.
  • Collaborate with design and process teams to integrate AI‑driven solutions into production design flows.
  • Provide documentation, training, and end‑user support for new tools, methodologies, and workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science with circuits/VLSI coursework, or a related field, with a graduation date no earlier than September 1, 2026.Strong programming fundamentals with in‑depth experience in Python.
  • Ability to develop CAD software and AI‑enabled automation flows supporting semiconductor design.
  • Knowledge of Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or strong interest in AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with LLM‑based applications and agentic development, including tools such as Claude Code, ChromaDB, or MCP development.
  • Experience with additional programming languages such as SKILL, C, C++, Java, Perl, or Lisp.
  • Knowledge of data engineering concepts and model deployment practices.
  • Exposure to assessing architectural and hardware constraints for integrating ML into design workflows.
