Strategy

Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other.  We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

The Mission

At CTCT, we are defining the future of the construction industry. As a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar, we develop the industry-standard grade control platforms that power earthmoving, grading, and compaction machines worldwide. Utilizing cutting-edge GNSS, optical total stations, and laser technologies, we empower operators in construction, mining, and landfill industries to work with radical simplicity and precision.

The Role

We are looking for a highly disciplined Product Owner to serve as the internal steward of our product backlog and the delivery team’s value pipeline. While the Product Manager owns the market strategy, you will own the execution—focusing on user experience, solution validation, team efficiency, and technical health.

Your goal is simple but vital: ensure the team is building the right thing and building it right, maximizing value in every single sprint, working to seamlessly combine CTCT's hardware and software products into a single outstanding solution.

Core Responsibilities

  • Continuous Discovery & Validation: Partner with the Product Manager to unearth root user pain points. You’ll work with UX teams to validate prototypes and mockups before they ever hit development, ensuring features are intuitive for both new and intermediate operators.

  • Requirements Excellence: Translate high-level themes into precise, unambiguous User Stories and Acceptance Criteria. You are the "single source of truth" for all technical requirements.

  • Backlog Ownership: Manage and prioritize the backlog to ensure a perpetually "ready" pipeline of 2–3 sprints of work.

  • Execution Shield: Protect your engineering team's velocity. You are the sole point of contact for external queries and the final decision-maker on in-sprint feature questions, minimizing interruptions and mid-sprint scope changes.

  • System Health & Quality: Partner with Engineering leadership to manage technical debt and infrastructure. You will define the "Definition of Done" and formally approve completed features to ensure they are high-quality and bug-free including system and field testing.

  • Dependency Synchronization: Proactively identify and resolve cross-team dependencies (Core, PCC, INS, V&V) at least one month before development begins.

Who You Are

  • User-Centric: You don’t just build features; you solve problems. You are passionate about "Max Uptime" and creating systems that are reliable, predictive, and easy to maintain.

  • Technically Minded: You understand the balance between new feature development and foundational system health/supportability.

  • Master of Flow: You thrive on predictability. You hate "unclear requirements" and strive for near-zero blockers.

  • Decisive Communicator: You can navigate complex stakeholder environments, secure commitments from other groups, and shield your team from "task-switching" and unproductive rework.

Key Performance Expectations

  • Backlog Readiness: Maintain 2 sprints of "ready" work at all times.

  • Validation Rate: Ensure 90% of features have documented user validation before development.

  • Efficiency: Keep team interruptions and unplanned work below 10% of sprint capacity.

  • Quality: Deliver features with minimal P0/P1 defects attributable to requirements gaps.

  • Proactive Planning: Secure all external dependencies at least one month in advance.

Why Join Us?

Join a team where "Radical Simplicity" and "Customer Centricity" aren't just buzzwords—they are the standard. At CTCT, you will have the autonomy to drive real impact on the machines that build our world.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.

Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.
