The Senior Director Systems Engineering – Dev Ops is a senior engineering leader responsible for providing functional leadership across systems engineering, DevOps, and cybersecurity disciplines within the Patient Care Solutions (PCS) JFWTC site. The role also serves as the global leader for DevOps within PCS, establishing and communicating a clear mission, vision, and purpose for modern, scalable, and reliable software delivery, with an emphasis on speed, efficiency, and operational excellence.



The Senior Director defines and executes a comprehensive DevOps strategy and multi‑year roadmap, driving the adoption of automation‑first practices, standardized tools and workflows, actionable metrics, CI/CD pipelines, and reliability engineering across platforms and products. They provide global leadership to DevOps engineers, setting technical direction, governing standards, and ensuring consistent execution of secure, resilient, and scalable delivery practices across regions and product lines.

Job Responsibilities

The Senior Director Systems Engineering – Dev Ops leads highly complex, cross‑functional engineering activities with a primary focus on building and maturing DevOps as a core organizational capability within PCS. Key responsibilities listed below:

Leadership & Functional Ownership

  • Provide functional leadership for Systems Engineering across JFWTC, ensuring alignment to global PCS strategies while driving consistent application of systems engineering, cybersecurity, and DevOps standards within the region.
  • Lead organizational performance and capability development for JFWTC Systems Engineering, including workforce planning, talent development, performance management, and continuous improvement of engineering effectiveness and maturity.

Global DevOps Strategy & Execution

  • Define and lead the global PCS DevOps mission, vision, and strategy, establishing DevOps as a foundational capability for scalable, reliable, and compliant software and system delivery across all products, platforms, and services.
  • Establish and govern a standardized DevOps framework encompassing CI/CD, automation, observability, and reliability engineering, ensuring consistent adoption across teams and integration with systems engineering and quality practices.

Organizational Development

  • Build and sustain a strong DevOps and platform engineering talent pipeline, including role clarity, career paths, competency models, and succession planning
  • Create targeted development programs to grow internal capability and reduce reliance on external resources.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement through metrics‑driven delivery, engineering maturity assessments, and feedback loops that improve development velocity, system reliability, and operational efficiency at scale and across global teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or closely related field
  • Significant experience in Engineering, Technology, or Systems Engineering with demonstrated leadership in DevOps, software delivery, or development infrastructure within regulated environments. Knowledge level comparable to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Software Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership in DevOps, software delivery, or development infrastructure within regulated environments.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a team of direct reports including leadership of global, cross‑functional engineering organizations, with responsibility for organizational design, talent development, succession planning, and performance management across Systems and DevOps engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience leading DevOps or software delivery organizations supporting regulated medical‑device or healthcare products, with accountability for delivery performance, operational stability, and compliance across NPI, sustaining engineering, and post‑market phases.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience at scale, including organizational design, workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and performance management across systems and DevOps engineering roles. (I included this in the 4th bullet point above.)
  • Strong working knowledge of medical‑device software and systems regulations and standards (e.g., IEC 62304, ISO 14971, FDA software guidance) and experience applying DevOps practices within established quality system frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, standardize, and govern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, environment consistency, configuration management, metrics, and release governance, integrated with systems engineering and quality processes.
  • Experience serving as a senior technical authority for delivery platform performance, operational risk, and system‑level reliability, partnering effectively with Quality, Regulatory, IT, Cybersecurity, and Product leadership.
  • Established track record of building and sustaining DevOps and systems engineering capability, including role clarity, competency models, career paths, succession planning, and targeted development initiatives.
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships and tooling investments.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey DevOps strategy, engineering maturity, delivery performance, and risk to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience working in a regulated industry
  • Direct experience supporting Patient Care Solutions (PCS) products, platforms, or installed base, with exposure to NPI, sustaining engineering, and post‑market software operations.
  • Experience applying DevOps practices in medical‑device development environments, including tool standardization, pipeline validation, controlled build and release environments, and traceability expectations.
  • Experience leading DevOps standardization, productivity improvement, or engineering maturity initiatives across multiple programs, platforms, or global sites.
  • Background in systems engineering or software engineering leadership, with demonstrated ability to integrate system‑level requirements, development workflows, and operational execution.
  • Experience supporting internal assessments, audits, or regulatory interactions related to software development processes, automation, or development infrastructure within regulated environments.
