About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to own and deliver UK payroll operations, with additional exposure to Australia and New Zealand payroll. This role is ideal for a hands‑on payroll professional with strong UK expertise who has worked within a CloudPay environment and is comfortable operating in a multi‑country context.

You will be responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing while partnering closely with HR, Finance, and external providers to deliver an excellent employee experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

UK Payroll (Primary Focus)

  • Own end‑to‑end UK payroll processing.
  • Ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, pensions (auto‑enrolment), statutory payments, and HMRC reporting.
  • Manage payroll calendars, approvals, reconciliations, and year‑end activities.
  • Act as escalation point for complex UK payroll issues.

Australia & New Zealand Payroll (Secondary)

  • Support payroll activities for Australia and New Zealand, either directly or through vendors.
  • Ensure understanding of local statutory requirements and legislative updates.
  • Superannuation payroll processing.

Systems & Vendors

  • Operate payroll processes using CloudPay (required).
  • Partner with HRIS teams to support data accuracy and payroll integrations.
  • Workday experience is a strong plus, particularly for employee data and payroll inputs.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll providers and ensure service quality.

Controls, Reporting & Improvement

  • Perform payroll reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Support audits and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and greater efficiency.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong experience managing UK payroll end‑to‑end.
  • Hands‑on experience with CloudPay.
  • Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance.
  • Pensions in connections with payroll
  • Experience working with external payroll vendors.
  • High attention to detail and strong stakeholder communication skills.

Desirable

  • Payroll experience in Australia and/or New Zealand.
  • Exposure to Workday.
  • Exposure to benefit admin with relation to payroll.
  • Experience in a regional or multi‑country payroll model.
  • Payroll qualification (e.g. CIPP) is a plus.
