GATORWORKS, within Military Development Programs (MDP), is a technology, product, and capability incubator focused on rapid prototyping, demonstration, and engine to airframe integration across the earliest phase of development. The team is expanding the Military Engines product portfolio with cutting edge technology, innovative use of existing capability – with focus on a new and non-traditional customer base and acquisition environment. Developing, testing, and fielding technologies for the warfighter faster and more efficiently is common to our mission across all programs. The MDP Digital team supports these efforts by building and scaling fully digital and agile development techniques – transforming how we work internally and with our customers. The MDP Digital team is seeking a Product Owner, who will play a key role in executing and advancing the MDP Digital Roadmap. This role will lead a team to create new digital solutions that reimagine our core business processes so we can deliver world-class propulsion systems faster and more efficiently than our competition.  

We are seeking a highly collaborative Product Owner with a track record for building high-performing teams, delivering on commitments, and developing long-term strategies for scalability, tool adoption, and tool maintenance / sustainment.  Ideal candidates will need to have demonstrated ability to bring together a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, and to clearly translate and articulate business value as a result of capability implementation. In addition, experience with process value stream mapping and contributing to product roadmaps and product backlogs is required.

The position will report to the MDP GATORWORKS Director for Digital Acceleration

What You Will Do

  • Lead an agile team of developers to execute and deliver a backlog of capabilities, expand adoption of existing tools, develop a cost-effective maintenance strategy for the tools, and contribute to a roadmap of future initiatives to support program operations digitally.
  • Manage an annual budget and provide monthly input and forecast updates as well as create project definitions and estimates for future-year efforts
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to prioritize capability delivery based on need and business impact
  • Translate business use cases to a team of developers to implement intuitive, user-focuses digital solutions
  • Conduct tool demonstrations as needed to various levels of leadership, stakeholders, and potential tools users
  • Respond rapidly (within hours) to tool issues / bugs to provide timely fixes and support a fast-turn business cadence
  • Interface with other Digital Technologists across Military Engines to understand and anticipate future needs and match planned capability releases to those gaps
  • Participate in quarterly planning events and lead the team to ensure executable Program Increment plans that appropriately incorporate business and stakeholder feedback. Also provide guidance and direction on capability prioritization at bi-weekly Sprint reviews to ensure alignment of expectations between stakeholders and team members

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM or business-related field with 10 +years of prior relevant experience showing progressive responsibility, OR
  • Advanced degree with 7+ years of experience showing progressive responsibility.
  • Experience managing costs on a monthly cadence to achieve an annual budget
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Availability to travel up to 10% (once per quarter)

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and use knowledge of business processes and stakeholders needs to prioritize a feature backlog
  • Ability to translate stakeholder needs into user stories implementable by a development team
  • Ability to demonstrate products to a wide range of audiences with the ability to adapt messaging to the audience
  • Ability to articulate business value of new product features
  • Demonstrated track-record of delivering on commitments
  • Ability to develop and execute a 1-2 year operational plan
  • Advanced degree in a business-related field (e.g. MBA) or PMP Certification
  • Experience with Earned Value Management
  • Experience writing proposals, bidding, or generating basis of estimate documentation
  • Experience with software development and/or human-machine interface (HMI) design
  • This is an onsite role in East Hartford, CT

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
