Position Overview

The Chief of Staff (CoS) to the Chief Executive Officer is a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving enterprise alignment, execution excellence, and measurable value creation across a multi-state behavioral health organization.

Reporting directly to the CEO and partnering closely with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Chief of Staff serves as a force multiplier—translating strategy into action, accelerating decision-making, and ensuring the organization’s highest-priority initiatives are executed with discipline and impact.

This role sits at the center of the organization, connecting clinical, operational, and financial priorities to drive performance, improving patient outcomes, and support EBITDA growth bringing strong strategic thinking, financial and operational acumen, and a proven ability to deliver results in complex, fast-paced healthcare environments.

Compensation

  • Typically salary between $215,000 - $250,000

Final Compensation offered will be within pay range based on qualifications/experience met for the position.

 

Schedule/Travel

  • M-F 8-5pm

 

How Chief of Staff Empower Recovery

Executive Partnership & Strategic Execution

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and extension of the CEO, translating strategic priorities into clear execution plans with defined milestones, owners, and success metrics.
  • Drive enterprise-wide execution of key initiatives, ensuring alignment across clinical, operational, and corporate functions.
  • Prepare the CEO for Board, investor, and executive engagements, including development of high-quality materials and data-driven insights.
  • Manage and prioritize the CEO’s agenda to ensure focus on the highest impact opportunities and risks.

 Enterprise Value Creation & Financial Performance

  • Support development and execution of the organization’s value creation strategy, with a focus on EBITDA growth and enterprise value.
  • Partner with Finance to monitor performance, including budget vs. actuals, forecasts, and KPI trends.
  • Provide visibility into key margin drivers, cost structures, and revenue performance.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve financial outcomes, including cost optimization, productivity, and revenue cycle performance.
  • Track initiative ROI and ensure disciplined follow-through on value creation efforts.

 Operating Cadence, KPIs & Accountability

  • Establish and manage a rigorous operating cadence, including ELT meetings, business reviews, and performance checkpoints.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise dashboards that provide real-time visibility into operational, clinical, and financial performance.
  • Drive accountability across leadership by tracking commitments, escalating risks, and ensuring timely execution of priorities.
  • Standardize performance management frameworks across regions, service lines, and functions.

 Cross-Functional Alignment & Decision Governance

  • Break down silos and ensure alignment across departments, service lines, and geographies.
  • Clarify decision rights, governance structures, and escalation pathways to improve speed and quality of decision-making.
