Job Description

Our Mission

Healthcare should work for patients, but it doesn’t. In their time of need, they call down outdated insurance directories. Then wait on hold. Then wait weeks for the privilege of a visit. Then wait in a room solely designed for waiting. Then wait for a surprise bill. In any other consumer industry, the companies delivering such a poor customer experience would not survive. But in healthcare, patients lack market power. Which means they are expected to accept the unacceptable.

Zocdoc’s mission is to give power to the patient. To do that, we’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace that makes it easy to find and book in-person or virtual care in all 50 states, across +200 specialties and +12k insurance plans. By giving patients the ability to see and choose, we give them power. In doing so, we can make healthcare work like every other consumer sector, where businesses compete for customers, not the other way around. In time, this will drive quality up and prices down.

We’re 18 years old and the leader in our space, but we are still just getting started. If you like solving important, complex problems alongside deeply thoughtful, driven, and collaborative teammates, read on.

Job Purpose

At Zocdoc, we’re building the leading two-sided healthcare marketplace, helping millions of patients find the right care while enabling providers to grow their practices. The Provider team sits at the center of this mission, optimizing the balance between patient demand and provider supply to improve access, outcomes, and business performance.

We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to drive provider growth through a combination of marketplace insights, experimentation, and predictive modeling. In this role, you’ll tackle high-impact, real-world problems like:

  • Where and how we should grow provider supply across markets
  • How to optimize provider acquisition, retention, and lifetime value

You’ll operate at the intersection of Revenue and Strategy, partnering closely with Sales, Finance, and Product teams to shape decisions that directly impact both user experience and business outcomes.

This is a highly end-to-end role—you’ll define problems, design analyses, build models, and translate findings into clear recommendations for leadership. We care deeply about strong problem-solving and applied statistical thinking. While we value experience with experimentation and causal inference, we’re less focused on any specific methodology and more interested in your ability to apply the right approach to messy, real-world problems and influence cross-functional stakeholders.

This role is a strong fit for Data Scientists who have worked on marketplace dynamics, growth, or customer lifecycle problems in a B2B setting, and are excited to apply those skills to improving healthcare access at scale.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partner with commercial and product partners to drive business strategy by translating insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Build models and analyses that drive provider growth—helping us understand supply and demand, improve provider revenue (LTV, acquisition cost), and predict churn to guide our commercial strategy.
  • Work closely with Finance and business partners to improve forecasting and bring more data-driven rigor to planning and decision-making.
  • Design and measure experiments to measure impact and guide decisions, using both A/B tests and other practical approaches for causal inference (e.g., Diff-in-Diff, synthetic control, propensity score matching).
  • Partner with Sales, Revenue Operations, Finance, and Systems to ensure data quality and consistency in commercial tools (e.g., Salesforce) that enable insights and statistical modelling.

You’ll enjoy this role if you are…

  • Passionate about transforming healthcare through data. You love finding signals in the noise — turning complex data into insights that shape meaningful products.
  • Thrive at the intersection of business strategy, commercial execution, and data science.
  • Get energy from complex, ambiguous problems and can translate them into structured analytical solutions.
  • Go beyond surf
