The Senior Counsel, Ethics & Compliance role plays a critical role in advancing responsible growth in India while ensuring alignment with the company’s global Ethics & Compliance program.
We are seeking a confident and proven professional who is looking to increase their impact and take on greater responsibility in a dynamic and rapidly evolving organization.
In this role, you will provide legal and strategic guidance on ethics, anticorruption, conflicts of interest, investigations, and regulatory compliance, to help localize global compliance controls and embed ethical decision making into day-to-day operations.
The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor who combines strong legal judgment with practical business acumen and cultural awareness to build relationships and represent Ethics & Compliance across various business functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Ethics & Compliance Program Support
- Provide day-to-day legal advice and guidance on the company’s Standards of Business Conduct, ethics policies, and compliance standards, including anti‑bribery and anti‑corruption (ABAC), conflicts of interest, gifts, meals, entertainment, and travel (GMET), and third‑party risk.
- Serve as a regional subject‑matter expert on ethics and compliance risks relevant to India, including local legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide primary support for the analysis and remediation of adverse information on various third parties and potential business partners identified through due diligence databases.
- Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of global and regional Ethics & Compliance programs and controls, including audits, risk assessments, and training completion tracking.
- Identify compliance gaps and develop and implement new process improvements to mitigate new risks.
- Investigations and Speak Up
- Manage and conduct internal investigations into allegations of misconduct, policy violations, or unethical behavior, including assessing severity, recommending escalation, and ensuring appropriate remediation.
- Partner with HR, Legal, and other stakeholders on investigation outcomes, remediation, and disciplinary actions.
- Support ethics helpline and mailbox operations, including issue triage, escalation, and trend analysis.
- Collaborate with global compliance teams and control functions (Finance, HR, Internal Audit, etc.) to ensure consistency and effectiveness of controls.
- Training and Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead local Regional Compliance Committee meetings and guide discussions regarding trends and emerging risks.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders and functional/commercial teams on compliance matters.
- Conduct site visits and efficiently deliver and participate in local anti-corruption training sessions
- Provide support for regional activities, meetings and events (such as Ethics & Compliance Week), ensuring smooth coordination and strong engagement.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in compliance program management (ideally within the high-tech or manufacturing industries).
- Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) from a recognized Indian university; Masters, international legal training, or compliance certification a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality and integrity, organization, attention to detail, and to work independently.
- Ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to proactively identify and solve complex problems, thinking beyond existing solutions and frameworks and exercising discretion when management support may be necessary.
- Savviness with software applications utilized in compliance programs such as Excel, SharePoint, Smartsheet and Tableau, as well as comfort using AI and data analytics to automate compliance tasks, such as compiling data or metrics for reporting.
