We’re looking for a Summer Trainee, Embedded SW & AI-Assisted development to join our SW team in Oulu for the summer. As our Embedded Software Summer Trainee, you will join the Oura Embedded SW team and support different parts of our firmware and algorithm development. You will have a named mentor to help and support you. During the summer, you will learn, develop your skills and gain more responsibilities as you progress.

Our summer trainee period is planned to be 4 months, timing can be agreed between 05/2026- 09/2026. The position is based in our Oulu office and we expect the candidate to work on-site at the office throughout the traineeship.

Key Responsibilities

Your main responsibility is to work with the team on developing new features, fixing defects, and improving test coverage, and to bring new ideas for using AI in embedded software development. You will work as part of the development team in close cooperation with our hardware, science, and customer experience teams, learning how end‑to‑end product development is done at Oura. We offer you a chance to work hands-on with the latest AI tools and techniques in real embedded development as part of an international, cross-functional team where you will contribute to a world-class consumer product used by millions of people. You will be surrounded by collaborative, smart teammates who are eager to learn from you and share their own experience, all while gaining exposure to industry-leading software development and testing practices through your daily work.

Qualifications

Naturally think about software development in terms of using AI‑assisted tools and workflows in your daily work.
Have hands‑on experience using AI tools (e.g. code assistants like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code or similar) to design, implement, or debug software.
Have done embedded or microcontroller projects where you actively used AI tools to help with coding, debugging, or testing.
Have basic knowledge of C/C++ and interest to grow your skills in embedded firmware development.
Have a good problem‑solving and analytical mindset and are curious to try new ways of working.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
