Senior Software Engineer, GenAI Platform

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join our Jade team and build the tooling and infrastructure that powers Chime's AI-powered financial assistant.

As a senior engineer on this team, you'll focus on the systems that enable us to scale and move faster — building eval frameworks, production observability, conversation review tools, and guardrail systems that ensure our AI experiences are reliable and safe for millions of members. Your work will directly help the team ship new capabilities to Jade by giving them the platforms and processes they need to develop, test, and monitor with confidence.

You'll work across the stack, from internal UIs and dashboards to backend services that handle model routing, prompt management, and evaluation pipelines. The AI landscape evolves rapidly, and so do the needs of our team. You'll need to learn quickly, adapt to shifting priorities, and proactively anticipate what the team needs next to keep moving fast. The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $164,000 and up to $259,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to:

• Design, develop, test, and scale backend implementations of our in-app Jade agent
• Lead tooling solutions that allow us to safely and confidently roll out new features
• Partner cross-functionally to solve member pain points and deliver secure, scalable solutions
• Improve system reliability through performance tuning and architectural enhancements
• Contribute to technical design and maintain high standards across the codebase
• Participate in code reviews and mentor teammates to raise the bar
• Bring curiosity and initiative to explore how things work and how they can work better

To thrive in this role, you have:

• 5+ years of backend software development experience in production environments
• Experience with agent engineering
• Proficiency with AI tooling and AI native development
• Proficiency with Python or comparable frameworks
• Experience with transactional databases (e.g., Postgres) and caching systems (e.g., Redis)
• Familiarity with architectural patterns in high-scale systems
• A strong focus on writing maintainable, well-tested code
• A drive to learn and dive deep into technical systems
• Bonus: Experience in fintech, security systems, or startup environments
