Position Summary
The Hematology & Cell Therapy Brand Lead UK & Ireland is the most senior leadership role of the cross‑functional brand team, accountable for the success of a complex and evolving hematology and cell therapy portfolio. This role owns the fully loaded P&L, including promotional field teams, and is accountable for brand strategy, launch excellence, and commercial performance across the UK and Ireland.
The role will lead launches in hematology, as well as additional in‑line and future indications across the lymphoma and myeloma Cell Therapy portfolios. The Brand Lead is accountable for developing and executing integrated brand strategies spanning marketing, field execution, medical, access, and customer engagement, ensuring seamless execution across all customer types.
The ideal candidate is a commercially mature Brand Lead who has differentiated brands in highly competitive markets, can design and lead UK go to market models, and has the judgement to navigate portfolio complexity and supply challenges while building long term franchise value.
Why This Role Is Different
This role represents a step‑change in scope, complexity, and leadership accountability compared with a traditional single‑brand or indication‑focused Brand Lead role.
The role spans a multi‑asset, multi‑indication portfolio across oral therapies and highly complex cell therapies. Unlike traditional Brand Lead roles, this position carries direct accountability for field team leadership and performance, integrating strategic marketing leadership with field force execution.
The role operates within highly specialised treatment settings, requiring deep understanding of cell therapy infrastructure, referral networks, commissioning pathways, and multidisciplinary stakeholder engagement. Success requires orchestration of cross‑functional teams, field teams, and external stakeholders to deliver launch excellence within evolving access environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for fully loaded P&L across UK & Ireland IO hematology and cell therapy portfolios and owns decision on how the budget is used for cross-functional team resourcing/capabilities (e.g. Functional mix and capability needs, FTE v. non-FTE budget)
- Leads a cross-functional team across Commercial, Access, Medical, Sales and enabling Functions for a common and compliant set of brand objectives
- Execution of the complex multi-product and indication portfolio strategy: the individual will also be responsible for future launch assets and indications in hematology and cell therapy. This may include new assets or platforms that treat indications/tumors that overlap with current in-line portfolio. The role therefore offers the clear opportunity to play a key leadership role in the further transformation of the UK/Ireland business by preparing for and managing a broad highly complex product portfolio
- Accountable for the sales forecast/budget targets and sales performance of BMS’ hematology and cell therapy product portfolio for the UK & Ireland; monitors and analyses progress, mitigates against shortages and implements corrective actions as appropriate.
- Leads commercial teams’ identification and mapping of key stakeholders and establishes strong relationships with external bodies (Key NHS - for the UK - and HSE - for Ireland - Stakeholders, ie, Payers, Patient Associations, KOLs, Brand advocates, etc.) as relevant.
- As a member of the Business Unit leadership team, the individual is expected to operate in close coordination and collaboration with her/his peers at the local level as well as with partners in the global HQ
- Acts with an understanding of the environmental pressures that customers face and leading on bringing relevant stakeholders together to find timely solutions.
- Foster a leadership culture, which attracts, develop and retains high caliber candidates; build and shape a brand team talent pool that drives the future success of the organisation.
- Utilizes an omnichannel, personalized approach to marketing, leveraging advanced analytics, and modular content processes.
- Provides input to BI&A teams on development of advanced analytics and uses them to inform/ refine brand strategies and understand brand performance
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Able to deliver against commercial and broader performance objectives
- Familiarity with range of customer journeys (HCP, Patient, Payor)
- Relevant management background in leading Commercial, Access, or Medical functions
- P&L/ budget management experience
- Fluency in analytical models (e.g., journey decisioning engine) and ability to translate analytics from I&A teams into actionable strategies
- Experience of omnichannel strategy and modular content production
- Strong understanding of market dynamics and requirements of the customer
- 10 + years of management experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with significant experience within the Oncology/Hematology therapeutic area
- Experience in launching and resourcing in Oncology and Hematology brands
- A solid understanding of the industry’s complex regulatory and reimbursement requirements and an absolute
- commitment to competing on the highest ethical level are essential
- In-depth knowledge of the UK and Ireland market, NHS & HSE structure and customer needs and ability to identify opportunities and issues within the changing NHS & HSE
