Senior Quality Assurance Engineer – Automation

Location: Aachen / Übach-Palenberg, North Rhine-Westphalia (Onsite)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (Automation) to own and evolve our automation strategy across web and mobile products. This role is both hands-on and strategic, ensuring that quality scales with product complexity and delivery speed.

You will lead automation design, improve CI quality gates, and mentor other QA engineers while remaining deeply involved in implementation.

What You’ll Do

• Define and evolve the overall automation strategy across desktop and mobile
  
  
• Architect and maintain scalable automation frameworks using CodeceptJS
  
  
• Lead mobile automation efforts using Appium
  
  
• Contribute to and review automation code in JavaScript, Kotlin (Android) and Swift (iOS)
  
  
• Drive integration of automation into CI/CD pipelines
  
  
• Improve test reliability, execution speed, and signal quality
  
  
• Identify quality risks early and work proactively with teams to mitigate them
  
  
• Mentor other engineers and raise the automation maturity of the team
  
  
• Influence engineering practices to improve testability and observability
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of experience in QA, with a strong focus on test automation
  
  
• Proven experience designing and scaling automation frameworks
  
  
• Deep knowledge of CodeceptJS and modern E2E test tooling
  
  
• Strong experience with Appium and mobile automation strategies
  
  
• Hands-on experience with Kotlin and Swift for mobile testing
  
  
• Strong CI/CD experience and understanding of quality gates
  
  
• Excellent communication and technical leadership skills
  
  

Nice to Have

• Experience modernizing legacy or flaky automation suites
  
  
• Knowledge of performance, reliability, or security testing
  
  
• Experience with cloud device farms or mobile test platforms
  
  
• Experience defining quality metrics and reporting
