What you'll do:
- Direct functional people leadership. Recruiting, performance management, team culture and engagement
- Work directly with Product Managers and Senior Staff Developers to ensure a healthy and coherent backlog is available for your teams
- Champion scrum ceremonies and ensure the highest velocity and quality deliverables of the team
- Maintains a high level of technical knowledge, especially deeply within the team’s domain, to accurately engage with the team and validate assumptions, provide guidance, and ensure the team is making sound technology decisions while balancing business and technical constraints
- Accountable for timely delivery of the team's project commitments
- Actively balances business and technology objectives when decision making
- Ensures all members of the team are adhering to Benevity governance/controls/standards
- Provides visibility into team's execution via performance measures and reporting (bi-weekly)
- Aligns team activities with Benevity OKRs and clarifies the link between the work and the OKR as necessary
- Understands current, unspoken, and future business context for the team and ensures resource allocation, skill development and cost decisions align with business needs
- Coordinates prioritization and scheduling activities with product management on behalf of the team
- Ensures that technical team are making decisions that reflect their need to consider documented or undocumented standards, costs, and architectural roadmap
What you'll bring:
- Successful track record as a software development manager working with cloud-based technologies
- Experience with AI development tooling and an AI-first mindset to your daily ways of working and leading
- Love to build technology teams that deliver exceptional product experiences in high-growth companies
- Thrive on developing people, building team culture and engagement, and direct functional people leadership
- Experience in end-to-end SaaS product development, at scale, in enterprise environments
- Maintain a high level of technical knowledge, including at a code level, to accurately engage with the team and validate assumptions
- Provide guidance and ensure the team is making sound technology decisions while balancing business and technical constraints
- Lead with empathy and have a high degree of self-awareness
- Help build business and client context for the team to foster a sense of team ownership
- Passionate, not pedantic, about development methodologies and are able to adapt and change approaches
- See opportunities in working with legacy code and optimizing existing systems
- Take satisfaction in leaving code, processes, and people better than when you got there
- Ensure you keep up to date with the latest technologies, and best practices, to ensure solutions continue to be innovative and robust
