The position is based at Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Chemical Analysis Division facility in Tewksbury, MA, which specializes in developing and manufacturing analytical instruments and solutions for laboratories and industrial applications. This site supports global customers in areas such as environmental testing, pharmaceuticals, and materials science through advanced chemical analysis technologies.

Overview
As a Senior Material Handler at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll play a key role in the Distribution/Warehouse Operations team, ensuring efficient, accurate movement and handling of materials that support supply chain and customer delivery functions. You help enable the company’s mission to support science and customer outcomes by maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting logistical activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform material handling activities — picking, packing, receiving, storing, staging, and moving inventory according to procedures.
- Conduct cycle counts and inventory verification to ensure accuracy and track stock levels.
- Load and unload freight and assist with shipping/receiving tasks.
- Report issues or discrepancies to leadership and help resolve problems or escalations.
- Support 5S/lean activities and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Communicate work status and any operational concerns to supervisors and team members.
- Safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) where required and if certified.
- Adhere to safety requirements, compliance standards, and company policies at all times.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Minimum warehouse, distribution, or material handling experience (varies by location — often 2+ years).
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to ~45 lbs regularly.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with teams.
- Experience with ERP/Warehouse Management Systems preferred.
Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment

- Work in a warehouse/distribution environment under a range of temperature conditions.

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $18.54–$27.81.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
