Staff Software Engineer - Tech Lead

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join in building the Scheduling product as part of Toast’s Team Management Suite for restaurant employers. You’ll play a key roll* in the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions that enable restaurant owners to build an optimal labor plan that balances interests in profitability, employee’s desire for predictability and flexibility, and guest satisfaction.

A day in the life (Responsibilities)

• Lead fellow fellow developers, product managers, and designers, to build amazing Scheduling features with a goal of increasing our consumer footprint at Toast and employee engagement within restaurants
• Flex your full-stack development muscles with challenging end-to-end tasks in a supportive, collaborative team environment
• Participate in designing, estimating, implementing, testing, and debugging end-to-end solutions
• Mentor developers through code-pairing and detailed code, architecture, and project reviews
• Champion best practices for development, deployment and quality life cycles
• Actively contribute to product design and feature selection discussions
• Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

• 8+ years experience in Java, Kotlin or other object oriented language(s)
• Hands on experience with modern web standards and technologies (e.g. React, TypeScript, REST, GraphQL)
• A proven track record of building partnerships across engineering, product, customer success, and other stakeholders.
• Experience and interest in mentoring/leading peers
• Experience maintaining a high bar for quality, and guiding teams to hold a high bar for the technical quality of their deliverables.
• Strong customer empathy and a drive to make their lives better through a thoughtful user experience, robust technical solutions, and continuous product improvement.

**This role requires two days per week in our Dublin office**
