Position Purpose

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for pre-registration, registration and admission functions in the Emergency Department at Saint Mary's Hospital

What you will do

  • Perform complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions

  • Verify insurance requirements, obtain and understand insurance benefits

  • Secure signatures and all other key information needed to complete billing and collection functions

  • Collect or arrange for co-insurance and/or other deposit payment amounts

  • Refer self-pay patients to financial counselors; answers patient questions

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, college preferred

  • Medical terminology skills

  • Relevant medical office, hospital / physicians billing or patient registration experience preferred

  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Position Highlights and Benefits

  • Full time 40hrs 7a-3:30p including every other weekend and holiday. Pay differentials apply

  • ORIENTATION/TRAINING IS DAYSHIFT 8A-4:30P MON-FRI FOR 2-3 WEEKS May include time in Springfield at Mercy Medical Center depending on how far away you live

  • 3rd week required for new hire with less than 1 year experience doing patient registration in a hospital setting
