This position reports to the VP, Enterprise Engineering, is part of the Enterprise Engineering team, and will be a Global role.

What You Will Do
• Lead software engineering teams responsible for development, testing, and build services across enterprise platforms
• Implement modern engineering practices including Agile, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and comprehensive test automation strategies
• Define and enforce coding standards, quality metrics, secure development practices and compliance requirements for GxP-validated systems
• Establish development lifecycle controls ensuring compliance with GxP (21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11), SOX, and CSV methodologies including traceability, code review gates, and validation documentation
• Oversee development documentation standards including Functional Specifications, Technical Design Documents, code validation reports, and traceability matrices for audit readiness
• Oversee build pipelines, source code management (Git strategies, branching models), and environment strategies to ensure maintainability, traceability, and audit compliance
• Implement and govern software development lifecycle (SDLC) controls including peer code reviews, automated quality gates, security scanning, and change traceability
• Manage engineering activities for supplier-extended platforms; govern customizations, extensions, and integrations ensuring compliance with vendor support models and validation requirements
• Ensure development practices support audit and validation requirements including version control audit trails, build reproducibility, and electronic signature compliance
• Collaborate with solution architects to ensure technical designs are executable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards
• Drive modernization initiatives including cloud-native development, containerization, microservices adoption, API-first design, and legacy code refactoring
• Establish security-by-design principles and security practices
• Partner with Release management, and operations teams to ensure deployment readiness, operational excellence, and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Define engineering quality metrics and KPIs including code quality scores, test coverage, defect density, velocity, and technical debt tracking
• Lead technology evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and adoption of emerging development frameworks and tools
• Build and mentor high-performing global engineering teams; establish engineering competency frameworks and career development paths

Who You Are
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in software engineering leadership roles within enterprise environments, including 5+ years at senior management level
• Minimum 5+ years experience in regulated industries (life sciences, pharmaceutical, medical device, or healthcare) managing compliant software development practices
• Proven experience implementing Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD practices at enterprise scale across multiple platforms and technologies
• Strong understanding of GxP software development requirements including validation approaches for custom vs. configurable systems, and CSV documentation
• Knowledge of SOX controls relevant to software development including segregation of duties in code deployment, change traceability, and access controls
• Experience establishing and governing development lifecycle controls for audit compliance including code review processes, version control strategies, and release documentation
• Proven experience managing software development for supplier platforms (SAP customizations/extensions, Salesforce Apex/Lightning, Oracle PL/SQL) while maintaining vendor supportability
• Strong understanding of enterprise application ecosystems, integration strategies, and platform-specific development paradigms
• Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, .NET Core, Python, Node.js, React, Angular)
• Expertise with build automation tools, CI/CD platforms, and version control systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket)
• Experience with test automation frameworks, quality management, and testing strategies
• Understanding of validation requirements for automated build systems and development tools in GxP environments
• Experience managing global engineering teams, offshore/nearshore development partnerships, and vendor-delivered solutions
• Strong technical acumen with ability to balance innovation, quality, compliance, and delivery velocity

• Certifications in Agile, DevOps, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) • Experience in regulated industries (life sciences, healthcare, or similar) • Exposure to emerging technologies such as container orchestration (Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
