This role is accountable for driving member value, contract compliance, and financial performance across all GPO portfolios. The General Manager oversees business process optimization, complex supplier negotiations, and cross‑functional collaboration to achieve operational, commercial, and financial KPIs. As a subject matter expert, the role manages large and complex accounts, develops strategies to maximize contract utilization across varied care settings, and ensures consistent, efficient execution across internal teams and GPO models.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement enterprise‑aligned strategies across three GPOs serving health system, pharmacy, and community clinic markets.
  • Balance differentiated GPO strategies while ensuring consistency in governance, performance management, and value delivery.
  • Drive contract performance and market competitiveness through data‑driven insights across multiple provider segments.

Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary executive liaison for multiple GPOs, health systems, pharmacy organizations, community clinics, and key external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain senior‑level relationships to strengthen participation, utilization, and long‑term partnerships across all GPOs.

Business Operations

  • Oversee operational performance and process optimization (e.g., Order‑to‑Cash) across all GPO entities, ensuring standardization where appropriate and flexibility by market.
  • Develop and execute technology roadmaps that support procurement, contracting, and operational efficiency across diverse GPO models.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Own overall financial performance across the three GPOs, including revenue, margin, and economic value delivered to members.
  • Monitor market dynamics, purchasing data, and utilization trends across health systems, pharmacy, and community clinics to identify growth and optimization opportunities.
  • Establish, track, and report on KPIs to ensure consistent performance and transparency across portfolios.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with sales, marketing, IT, legal, compliance, and finance to ensure coordinated and compliant GPO engagement across all segments.
  • Align sourcing and contracting strategies with Evernorth leadership and broader enterprise objectives while accounting for segment‑specific requirements.

Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a high‑performing team supporting multiple GPOs and market segments.
  • Provide direction on organizational design, staffing, and resource allocation to support current performance and future growth.

Contract Negotiation & Compliance

  • Lead complex supplier negotiations across pharmaceutical, health system, and community clinic categories.
  • Ensure consistent legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance across all GPO agreements and operating models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in healthcare, supply chain, or GPO environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GPO operations, RFP processes, and complex contract negotiation.
  • Proven ability to lead multi‑portfolio or multi‑entity businesses with diverse customer segments.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.
  • Excellent executive communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead teams within a matrixed environment.
