We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Engineer, Digital Transformation – MedTech R&DThis role can be located at any J&J MedTech site and will work a Flex/Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week onsite

Purpose: The Senior Engineer, Digital Transformation enables the continuous evolution of the MedTech R&D product lifecycle and digital thread through the development of sector wide processes and digital platforms including PLM, ALM, CAD, Digital Adoption, and Design Engagement. These processes and platforms form the foundational infrastructure for MedTech R&D, with adaptive, data‑driven, and increasingly autonomous digital capabilities layered on top. The engineer partners across R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT to deliver processes and scalable digital capabilities that improve speed, quality, and user experience while supporting both operational stability and future innovation. While specific tools and technologies may evolve over time, accountability for value delivery, platform stewardship, and continuous improvement remains constant. 

You will be responsible for:

  • Provides technical and functional leadership across multiple platforms or capability areas; designs scalable, future ready solutions aligned to the digital thread and sector ecosystem; leads ambiguous or exploratory initiatives involving emerging technologies; influences standards, architectures, or practices used across multiple business units; serves as a trusted technical advisor to Managers and Senior Managers.
  • Design, configure, enhance, and operate digital capabilities across R&D systems.
  • Enable the digital thread across front‑end R&D, product development/NPI, and lifecycle R&D.
  • Support business onboarding, migrations, and adoption of enterprise R&D digital platforms.
  • Contribute to documentation, standards, and knowledge sharing.
  • Identify and support opportunities for automation and adaptive, data‑driven digital capabilities.
  • Participate in pilots, continuous improvement initiatives, and emerging technology exploration.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required, Advanced Degree strongly preferred.  Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field highly desired.
  • At least 8-12+ years of relevant experience required. Equivalent experience, certifications, or demonstrated expertise may be considered in lieu of formal years of experience.
  • Understanding of product development, NPI, and lifecycle R&D processes required.
  • Experience with enterprise digital platforms, R&D systems, or regulated environments required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT.
  • Strong learning, systems thinking, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience with PLM, ALM, CAD, and/or digital thread concepts strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to automation, data, or intelligent digital capabilities highly desired.
  • Experience working in global or multi‑business environments preferred.
  • Ability to design scalable, future‑ready digital solutions.
  • Influence standards, architectures, and best practices across multiple business units.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and evaluating emerging technologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$109,000.00 - $174,800.00

 

 

For Bay Area:

$125,000.00 - $201,250.00

 

 

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
