The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00

Join the Target Plus team as a Marketplace Support & Capability Development Lead – Financial Controls, where you will lead the strategy and execution of marketplace payout operations, financial governance, and partner financial performance standards.

The Marketplace Support & Capability Development Lead – Financial Controls focuses on marketplace financial governance with responsibility for safeguarding Target’s financial integrity and ensuring Marketplace Partners operate to defined financial and operational standards. This role establishes the financial quality bar across payouts, partner performance, and operational execution and is responsible for defining payout frameworks, policies, and partner financial expectations. Partners closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Compliance, and Product to define and enforce financial controls, payout standards, and regulatory compliance requirements to ensure the marketplace operates within legal and policy obligations, while proactively identifying and addressing financial risk.

This role sits at the intersection of financial operations, governance, and partner experience, with responsibility for safeguarding Target’s financial integrity while ensuring marketplace partners operate to defined financial and operational standards.

You will define payout frameworks, identify financial risk, and drive adherence to marketplace standards through structured oversight, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Define and evolve payout models, fee structures, and disbursement strategies aligned to marketplace growth and partner needs 

  •  Own end-to-end payout operations, including processing workflows, exception handling, and partner escalations 

  •  Serve as the business owner for relationships with payment processors, banks, and financial vendors 

  •  Establish and enforce financial standards and controls to ensure compliance with tax, reporting, and regulatory requirements (e.g., 1099, KYB/KYC, Marketplace Facilitator laws) 

  •  Partner with Legal, Finance, Accounting, and Compliance to implement audit-ready processes and mitigate financial risk 

  •  Build and maintain reporting and dashboards to monitor payout accuracy, issue trends, and partner experience 

  •  Analyze payment and operational data to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement 

  •  Define partner-facing financial expectations and performance standards, ensuring adherence across the marketplace 

  •  Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Partner Services, and Merchandising to influence tools, policies, and capabilities that support scale

About You:

  •  5+ years of experience in financial operations, accounting, marketplace payouts, or financial controls 

  •  Strong knowledge of financial regulations and reporting requirements (e.g., tax, KYB/KYC, compliance frameworks) 

  •  Experience managing payment platforms, processors, or financial vendor relationships 

  •  Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders 

  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience leveraging data for decision-making 

  •  Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable insights

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
