Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated, state-of-the-art medical campus that includes Diagnostic Centers, Outpatient Surgery and a 24-hour Emergency Department. Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education.

The Lead Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient supports daily pharmacy operations within a high-acuity hospital environment, helping oversee workflow for a team of approximately 30 technicians while ensuring efficient medication distribution and operational continuity. This role collaborates closely with pharmacists, nurses, and cross-functional partners, including involvement in monitoring automated systems and supporting medication diversion investigations. Responsibilities include medication preparation, unit-dose packaging, carousel operations, inventory management, and supporting technology and process improvements. In a leadership capacity, this role trains and mentors technicians, coordinates scheduling and workflow, manages escalations, and tracks performance metrics. Serving as a key operational resource, the Lead Pharmacy Technician also contributes to patient safety, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts while supporting a collaborative, team-oriented culture with strong opportunities for professional growth.

A caregiver in this position will work 7:00am to 3:30pm with flexibility to work Mondays from 10:00am to 6:30pm and evenings from 1:30pm to 10:00pm. Weekend rotations occur every other weekend and holiday requirements are 2 holidays per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

  • Coordinate and assign technical functions within the pharmacy to ensure timely and accurate services. 
  • Interact with and review work of technical staff, providing feedback to ensure maximized output and efficiency. 
  • Create and present quality control reports to management regarding team performance and throughput. 
  • Ensure staff is adequately trained and oriented to the work area. 
  • Provide onsite retraining as needed. 
  • Serve as technical resource for new pharmacy-oriented projects. 
  • Work in staff capacity and possess ability to perform all technical functions as needed. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Two years of experience as a pharmacy technician within the assigned relevant practice area
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, identify and develop solutions applying appropriate pharmacy standards and policies and educate/train others 

Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:

  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).

  • It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)  AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program 


Physical Requirements:

•Typical physician demands include the ability to perform functions of the job while standing, reaching, stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of the job.
•Ability to lift up to 20lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching; ability to transport up to 250 lbs.
