Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid on night shift (3AM- 12PM). This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Philippines office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
Serve as a Warranty Financial Analyst, bringing timely and insightful decisions to all strategic and tactical matters as they related to warranty forecasting, accounting, audit/SOX compliance and financial analyses, leveraging financial systems and processes that increase visibility, improve efficiency, shorten decision cycle times, and reinforce financial integrity and accountability.
What You’ll Do
Perform/oversee General Ledger functions (including but not limited to journal entries and account reconciliation); assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (USGAAP)
Identify, interpret, and analyze potential accounting risks and issues
Understand new warranty coverages and develop new models
Develop and analyze warranty forecasting models using actuarial concepts
Provide input for quarterly reserve adequacy studies based on actuarial analysis of claims spend
Assess reserve balances using actuarially accepted techniques appropriate for the type and length of coverage or size of the balance
Contribute to the annual warranty accrual rate setting process
Provide data deliverables and ad-hoc support to the broader finance organization including FP&A and Product Development Finance, Quality, and Engineering
Identify and execute appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance and financial procedures
Assist with internal and external financial reporting - including analyzing consolidated results, drafting, and performing first level review of SEC documents and management review reports, ensuring quality, and administering strict timeline
Supporting requests of internal/external auditors, ensuring open matters are resolved timely
Evaluate current accounting practices and policies and drive continuous improvement
Research, interpret, and draft documentation related to new accounting standards and brainstorm how each applies to GM as well as comply with external 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or any related field
Minimum of 5 years experience in accounting
Knowledge and experience working with an enterprise accounting system (SAP and/or Oracle Hyperion)
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
CPA or equivalent preferred
Warranty or product costing analytics experience
