Job Family Definition:

Provide technology consulting to external customers and internal project teams. Responsible for providing technical support and/or leadership in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to meet customers’ business needs and, consequently, for understanding customers’ businesses. As trusted advisor create and maintain effective customer relationships so as to insure customer satisfaction. Maintain knowledge of leading edge technologies and industry/market domain knowledge. Actively contribute to the company’s solutions portfolio by providing information ranging from technical knowledge to methodologies based on experience gained from customer projects. Shape technical direction and technical strategies within the organization and for external customers. Accountable for consistent and significant chargeability levels (or expense relief for internal project teams) and for assisting in meeting or exceeding revenue and customer satisfaction goals. Contribute to organization’s profitability by generating and cultivating new business opportunities and by providing technical support for deal proposal development.

Summary:

The Infrastructure Architect – Storage is responsible for designing, governing, and optimizing highly secure, resilient, and compliant storage platforms supporting mission-critical BFSI workloads. The role focuses on enterprise storage architecture, data protection, regulatory compliance, DR/BCP readiness, and performance optimization across on-prem, private cloud, and hybrid environments. 

What you’ll do:

Responsibilities:

  • Storage Architecture & Design 

    • Design and govern enterprise storage architectures for core banking, payments, trading, risk, and analytics platforms 

    • Define SAN, NAS, Object, Software-Defined Storage (SDS) and hybrid cloud storage strategies 

    • Architect high-availability (HA) and fault-tolerant storage solutions with zero or near-zero RPO/RTO 

    • Lead technology refresh, capacity planning, and storage modernization programs 

    BFSI Compliance & Data Protection 

    • Ensure adherence to RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, SOC2, GDPR (where applicable) 

    • Design data encryption at rest & in transit, secure key management, and data sovereignty controls 

    • Define data retention, archival, and immutability (WORM) strategies for regulatory workloads 

    • Support audit readiness, risk assessments, and compliance reviews 

    Backup, DR & Business Continuity 

    • Architect enterprise backup & recovery platforms supporting large-scale BFSI environments 

    • Design and test Disaster Recovery (DR) architectures across DC-DR / multi-region setups 

    • Support BCP drills, regulatory DR testing, and failover simulations 

    • Optimize backup performance, restore SLAs, and ransomware recovery readiness 

    Hybrid Cloud & Automation 

    • Integrate storage platforms with private cloud, sovereign cloud, and public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP where permitted) 

    • Enable cloud-native storage, tiering, and lifecycle management 

    • Drive automation using IaC (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell) for provisioning and compliance 

    • Enable self-service and policy-driven storage operations 

    Performance, Operations & Governance 

    • Define storage performance baselines, monitoring, and proactive capacity forecasting 

    • Troubleshoot complex performance, latency, and data corruption issues 

    • Establish storage standards, reference architectures, and design patterns 

    • Mentor L2/L3 engineers and act as final escalation authority 

     

    Technology & Platform Expertise 

    Enterprise Storage 

    • SAN / NAS / Object Storage architectures 

    • Vendors: HPE (Primera, Alletra, Nimble), Dell EMC (PowerMax, PowerStore, Isilon), NetApp (ONTAP), Hitachi Vantara 

    • Software-Defined Storage: Ceph, vSAN 

    Data Protection & DR 

    • Backup & Recovery: Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup 

    • Replication & DR: SRDF, SnapMirror, Metro-Cluster, Zerto 

    • Ransomware protection & immutable backups 

    Security & Compliance 

    • Encryption, KMS/HSM integration 

    • Secure multi-tenancy and access controls 

    • Regulatory logging and audit controls 

    Cloud & Virtualization 

    • VMware vSphere / NSX 

    • Hybrid cloud storage integration 

    • Kubernetes storage (CSI, persistent volumes) 

What you need to bring:

Education and Experience Required:

  • 12+ years of professional experience and a Master of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a Masters degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (15+ years in total).

Mandatory 

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure & storage architecture 

  • Strong exposure to BFSI workloads and regulatory environments 

  • Deep expertise in storage design, DR, backup, and performance tuning 

  • Experience handling audits, DR drills, and compliance reviews 

  • Excellent stakeholder and documentation skills 

Preferred 

  • Experience in sovereign or regulated cloud environments 

  • Exposure to DevOps / IaC for infrastructure 

  • Multi-vendor architecture & migration experience 

Certifications 

  • HPE Storage Solutions Architect / ASE 

  • NetApp NCIE / Dell EMC Proven Professional 

  • ITIL / TOGAF 

  • ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Auditor 

  • Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure – architecture level)
