We are seeking a Senior ​Quality Assurance Engineer to work within our team focused on building an industry-leading platform that helps restaurants drive guest engagement, boost retention and fuel growth. The team will help shape the future of how restaurants use technology to connect with their guests - increasingly through AI-powered tools and experiences that drive automation, personalization and smarter decision-making. You will be a key part of a high-impact, high-ownership engineering team solving complex challenges in a fast-moving product space. Your engineering leadership will be balancing technical excellence alongside a strong product mindset to solve for continuous growth within both the team and our product space. 

About this roll*:

As a QA-III on our team, you will be:

• Leading coordination with project teams to triage and reproduce defects, debug customer issues, validate fixes and support cases and align on release approvals.
• Testing new features and regressions across hardware and software, including designing and executing comprehensive test plans and cases for functional, regression, integration, and system testing 
• Collaborating with Product, Design (UI), and Development stakeholders to understand requirements and actively participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Be an awesome teammate who’s all in on collaboration and collective success.
• Drive initiatives to increase automated test coverage with left shift left testing  mentality and reusability, improving test efficiency through automation.
• Working with QA engineers and developers to define and evolve a test automation strategy.
• Keeping up to date with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Claude, TestRail, and automation frameworks, and driving their effective adoption across the team. 

Do you have the right ingredients*?

• 6+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, working on a significant component, set of features, or a mid-size application/service.
• Understanding of risk-based testing approaches and ability to work closely with product/engineering leadership on release quality decisions.
• Ability to quickly learn and understand complex business logic and identify creative ways to test it.
• Deep understanding of test strategies and methodologies relevant to your domain, and how to apply them effectively (e.g., API testing using Postman, web application testing across desktop, Toast hardware, and mobile apps, automated testing using Selenium, Playwright, etc.).
• Continuously improve testing processes and proactively challenge the effectiveness of the existing test suite.
• Build strong working relationships with team members and peers working on related software.
• Strong interest in automation, with awareness of common frameworks, methodologies, and tools (including AI)

From a QA perspective, you will work with tools such as Android Studio, Claude, GitHub, Postman, TestRail, Jira, Confluence, and Figma. Toast’s products span Android POS devices, backend services, and web applications, providing opportunities to test across mobile, API, and web layers. Our systems are built on a modern, service-oriented architecture using REST and GraphQL APIs, with cloud infrastructure on AWS.
