Vultr is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist to support and strengthen the operational foundation of our People Operations function. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accurate and compliant administration of payroll, employee benefits, and regulatory obligations across our distributed workforce.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience managing multi-state payroll and U.S. employee benefits programs, along with a strong understanding of payroll tax requirements, employment regulations, and operational compliance. This role requires someone who is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable navigating complex regulatory environments while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

As a key member of the People Operations team, you will work closely with People Operations leadership, Finance, and external partners to support payroll and benefits administration, monitor evolving regulatory requirements, and help ensure our programs scale effectively as the company continues to grow. This is a highly visible role in a fast-growing technology company where operational excellence, compliance, and employee experience are all critical to our success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end bi-weekly multi-state payroll operations for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations (including timecard and payroll input review, payroll adjustments, off-cycle payments, garnishments, etc.).

  • Partner with Finance on payroll operations, including general ledger alignment, payroll reporting, reconciliations, audits, and ensuring overall payroll accuracy and financial integrity.

  • Oversee payroll tax administration and compliance, including monitoring regulatory changes, interpreting jurisdictional requirements, maintaining SUI and payroll tax accounts, and resolving tax notices or discrepancies.

  • Administer U.S. employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, and voluntary benefits, ensuring accurate eligibility management, enrollments, life events, and payroll deductions while maintaining a high level of service and support for employees.

  • Partner with benefits brokers and vendors to support program administration, resolve issues, and assist with annual open enrollment planning, system preparation, and enrollment monitoring.
