Join our Flexible Pipe Systems team 

We devise smarter systems to control and monitor oil and gas extraction. Innovating in the energy industry, our subsea and surface pressure capabilities are industry leading. 

Role based out of Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK).  

As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for:  

  • Participating in technically focused training and team meetings  
  • Completing internal projects to deliver customer outcomes, identify business improvements and present your results.  
  • Receiving coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments and projects to develop your learning and skillset.  
  • Learning internal software to assist with the completion of projects and tasks.  
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and interns to interact and network with global business leaders.  
  • Applying Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) standards and procedures in all situations to ensure compliance is maintained.  
  • Contribute to a cross-functional team aimed at improving Manufacturing / Inspection processes and systems 

Fuel your passion 

To be successful in this role you will: 

  • Be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering  
  • Be in your in your final or penultimate year of degree studies.  
  • Be fluent in oral and written English.  
  • Have the legal right to work without restrictions.  
  • Have sound experience in Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PowerApps. 
  • Ability to use SolidWorks would be advantageous. 
  • Keen interest in Industrial or Design Engineering 
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company, including mid-tier management and senior leadership  
  • Have an understanding of Lean tools for developing and conducting statistically designed experiments in factory conditions, knowledge of capability study (CP and CPK)

As part of the Flexible Pipe Systems Offshore team based in Newcastle UK, you will be joining an established business and team with expertise in pipe design, manufacturing, and installation. This unique combination allows our customers to increase production and asset integrity whilst reducing the overall costs associated with a pipeline system.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lean Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lean manufacturing principles and practices, with a focus on continuous improvement, waste reduction, and operational efficiency. As a Lean Engineer, you will work collaboratively across departments to identify opportunities for improvement, implement lean tools and methodologies, and drive a culture of excellence within our organization. 

As a Lean Engineer, you will be responsible for: 

  • Conducting thorough assessments of current processes to identify inefficiencies, waste, and areas for improvement. 
  • Implementing and promoting lean tools and techniques such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, TPM, and Root Cause Analysis. 
  • Oversee and coach Daily Lean Management routine across different functions. 
  • Develop and improve tracking tools, dashboards, and templates to support Operational Excellence 
  • Educating and training employees on lean principles and practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization. 
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, supply chain, and engineering, to drive operational excellence and enhance overall performance. 
  • Build capability in developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of lean initiatives and ensure sustained improvements. 
  • Utilizing data analysis and problem-solving techniques to address operational challenges and implement sustainable solutions, and drive functions to adhere to problem solving techniques through Daily Lean Management.

To be successful in this role you will: 

  •  Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.  
  • Have proven experience in a lean engineering or operational excellence role for at least 3 years, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment. 
  • Have a strong understanding of lean principles, methodologies, and tools. 
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions. 
  • Have effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. 
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with lean software tools e.g., Minitab, Tableau, PowerBI 
  • Have strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
