PCB Layout Design Engineer (Power System)

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and innovative power system layout design engineer who is highly proficient in PCB/Substrate layout design. This individual will design high density power modules products using state of the art technology. A thorough knowledge of switching mode power supply architectures and magnetics layout requirement in a system in package & evaluation board is required. The candidate must be a team player with excellent verbal and written skills, an ability to work independently and methodically. The individual should be able to work on projects with the various support groups.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and create detailed layout designs for Power Modules projects.
  • Optimize metal traces, power planes, vias, interposer stack-up designs for electrical, magnetic, thermal and mechanical robustness performance.  
  • Collaborate with Design, Application, Product, Packaging and Assembly engineers to ensure new designs & modified layout meeting technical specifications and assembly design guidelines for manufacturability.
  • Perform Design Rules Check (DRC) and Layout vs Schematic (LVS) verification for all PCB & substrate designs.
  • Utilize CAD software and other design tools to produce high quality package & board level layout design.
  • Able to develop a monitoring progress schedule.   

Qualifications/Requirements:

BSEE with 10+ years of power products layout design

  • Strong fundamental knowledge in layout principles and standards, BGA/LGA System in Package construction, evaluation board reliability and failure mechanism.   
  • Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso and CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Labview)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet schedule.
  • Strong analytical skills and extremely detail oriented.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team player.
