The Position
Primary Purpose of Job
China Corporate and Portfolio Strategy (CPS) drives the affiliate portfolio prioritization and strategy as well as partnering with the global organization and the full China value chain (CiCOR, PD-China, commercial, manufacturing) to manage and accelerate the Roche pipeline to shape the future of Roche China and benefit Chinese patients in Alzheimers Disease.
As a member of China CPS, you will lead a fit-for-purpose cross-functional squad to develop and implement integrated therapeutic area, disease area and asset strategies for the China affiliate in Alzheimers Disease.
Key expected outcomes include:
• Formation of a high performing cross-functional squad
• China strategy and acceleration plan integrated into global therapeutic area, disease area and asset strategies presented and approved by global governance (ESPC, LSPC)
• China therapeutic area, disease areas and asset strategic and resourcing plans
• China insight generation and implementation of strategic plan and market shaping activities to meet set key performance metrics
• Customer engagement and key stakeholder mapping and engagement plans
Principal Roles & Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Form and lead a high-performing integrated cross-functional China squad for the disease area consisting of key commercial functions (access, pricing, medical, strategic analytics, etc.), as well as China value chain members (CiCOR, PD-China, manufacturing). The squad will have accountability for insight generation and the development of China-integrated disease area and asset strategies as well as implementation. In addition, will define the squad’s ambition, objectives and key performance metrics
Will play an important role in the performance management, coaching and development of squad members
Act as the Primary Point of Contact (PPOC) to the global organization. You will act as a bridge between Roche China and global stakeholders to amplify China's voice and provide strategic input to the global development of pipeline molecules in the therapeutic area. Works with global teams to provide China insights for the therapeutic area and disease area strategies; develops the China strategy at AS.2, AS.3, for asset strategies during the IDCP process to be presented to global governance (ESPC, LSPC)
Build and maintain trusting relationships with global teams (CET’s, LCT’s) and global stakeholders (DALs, LCLs, CSLs, CELs) by regularly engaging them to understand their needs and challenges
Accountable for the implementation of the China pre-launch, market-shaping activities and resourcing recommendations for the therapeutic area, disease areas and asset strategies prior to passing to the Customer Engagement teams
Face of Roche for engaging key therapeutic and disease area stakeholders, e.g., therapeutic area experts, investigators, patient associations
Therapeutic area and disease area specialist and champion. Possesses deep understanding of the therapeutic area, disease areas, patient journey, current and emerging science, treatments and market
Qualifications and Experience
BS/BA in Business Administration or Life Sciences, MD, PhD, MBA preferred, management consulting experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
10+ years multidisciplinary experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry including commercial experience and demonstration of commercial success
Solid scientific background and understanding with an in-depth knowledge of drug development and the pharmaceutical value chain
Experience and understanding of the pharmaceutical market in the therapeutic area will be strongly considered
Strong learning agility, strategic ability and enterprise thinking
Proven track record of leading successful cross-functional teams and influencing without authority – matrix leadership
Leadership presence with ability to challenge and hold ground with global and affiliate senior leaders
Multi-cultural awareness and ability to operate effectively in the global and local China environment
Advanced communication and presentation skills
Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese
