Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and forward‑thinking Senior SAP Platform Engineer (SAP Basis) to lead the operation and transformation of P&G’s SAP platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring high reliability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency of SAP NetWeaver and SAP S/4HANA landscapes while driving the evolution toward a self‑driving SAP operational core.

The Senior SAP Platform Engineer will bring deep hands‑on expertise in SAP Basis, combined with strong experience in HANA and Oracle databases, Linux system administration, automation, and platform engineering practices. Beyond day‑to‑day operations, this role plays a critical part in advancing SRE practices, AI‑assisted operations, and automation‑led transformation, enabling faster upgrades, lower risk, and reduced manual toil.

This role offers the opportunity to influence platform strategy, mentor engineers, and deliver measurable impact across P&G’s mission‑critical SAP environments in a fast‑paced, global setting.

Your Team

The Senior SAP Platform Engineer will report to Director, SAP Platform Operations based in Manila and will be part of the SAP Platform Operations team.

The team is responsible for ensuring SAP platforms are reliable, resilient, secure, and cost‑efficient, while safeguarding P&G’s critical end‑to‑end business processes. In parallel, the team is driving a multi‑year transformation to evolve SAP Platform Operations into a future‑proof, self‑driving operational model powered by automation, AI, SRE principles, and institutionalized engineering expertise.

The SAP Platform team operates globally and is organized into regional teams, with key operational hubs in Costa Rica, India, and the Philippines, supporting a follow‑the‑sun delivery model.

How success looks like

  • Self‑Driving Operational Core. SAP operations are largely automated and AI‑enabled, with minimal manual toil and predictable, data‑driven outcomes.
  • High‑Velocity SAP Upgrade & Patching. Upgrades and patching are fast, repeatable, and low‑risk, executed through standardized, automated and AI-enabled processes.
  • Risk‑Based Vulnerability Management. Vulnerabilities are prioritized by business risk and remediated within P&G’s Technical Vulnerability Management standards.
  • Bulletproof Business Continuity (DR/HA). DR and HA failovers are reliable, tested, and automated, consistently meeting RTO and RPO targets.
  • FinOps‑Driven Operational Intelligence. Cost, performance, and reliability insights guide engineering decisions, ensuring efficient and scalable SAP operations.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Run Reliable SAP Platforms
Ensure SAP systems remain stable, resilient, secure, and performant to support critical global business operations.
  • Automate SAP Basis Operations
Design and implement automation to eliminate repetitive work, reduce human error, and standardize SAP Basis operational procedures.
  • Adopt and Lead SRE Practices
Apply SRE principles including SLOs, error budgets, proactive monitoring, incident prevention, and systematic toil reduction.
  • Enable AI‑Assisted Operations
Leverage AI, analytics, and intelligent tooling to improve alerting, prediction, root cause analysis, and operational decision‑making.
  • Execute SAP Upgrades & Patching
Lead and deliver SAP upgrades, kernel updates, and monthly security patching safely, predictably, and with minimal business disruption.
  • Manage Security & Vulnerabilities
Remediate SAP security vulnerabilities based on risk, ensuring compliance with enterprise security and audit standards.
  • Ensure Business Continuity (DR/HA)
Design, maintain, test, and continuously improve Disaster Recovery and High Availability capabilities across SAP landscapes.
  • Optimize Cost & Efficiency (FinOps)
Drive cost‑aware platform operations through right‑sizing, capacity optimization, and FinOps‑driven insights.
  • Mentor and Enable Engineers

Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to building strong SAP platform engineering capability.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Strong hands‑on experience in SAP Basis / SAP Platform Operations supporting SAP NetWeaver and SAP S/4HANA landscapes
  • Solid expertise in HANA and/or Oracle database administration and Linux operating systems
  • Proven experience driving automation initiatives in SAP or enterprise platform environments
  • Practical exposure to SRE concepts and reliability‑focused engineering practices
  • Experience or strong interest in GenAI or AI‑assisted tools (e.g., automation, operational insights, troubleshooting, scripting assistance, or monitoring)
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux CLI and scripting; experience with Python, Grafana, or monitoring/observability tools is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams
  • Self‑driven, accountable, and proactive, with a strong ownership mindset and continuous improvement orientation
