Basic Function

Perform a wide variety of duties to support the Metrology functions of the department. Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair test and measurement equipment.  Administer equipment record and calibration databases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up, test, calibrate and maintain test and measurement equipment in accordance with established company procedures.

  • Analyze, repair, and troubleshoot metrology equipment.

  • Establish calibration intervals based on internal/external data and manufacturer recommendations.

  • Update calibration and asset tracking databases.

  • Administration of records in accordance with established procedures

  • Conduct experiments in support of metrology development and process improvement.

  • Interface with production supervisors and managers to meet production requirements.

  • Assist and advise in preparation of calibration and maintenance procedures (work instructions).

  • Support company continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ability to follow all safety procedures.

  • Regular attendance and ability to get along in a team environment.

  • Manual calibration of dimensional, torque pressure, electronic, analog, and proprietary test equipment using lab standards (e.g., Fluke multi-product calibrators, Molboxes, Brooks Flow controllers)

  • Create test procedures using manufacturers specifications.

  • Support customer and ISO audits

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Certification in electronic engineering technician (EET) or an Associate degree in a relevant metrology field preferred

  • 1+ years relevant experience in calibration/metrology in a commercial laboratory

  • Advanced understanding of relevant metrological standards (e.g., flow, pressure, vacuum, mechanical).

  • Strong communication skills; including written, verbal and listening skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and multi-tasking ability

  • Ability to provide precise, accurate and repeatable calibration data

  • Understand and demonstrate ability in use and operation of electrical/electronic equipment including DMMs, oscilloscopes, soldering equipment, power supplies, and DAQ’s

  • Advanced PC knowledge including use of Microsoft Office tools.

  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, NIST

  • Experience in communication with customer and peers, including ability to mentor or train
