The Enterprise Sales team at Workday Government plays a central role in advancing federal modernization efforts. Our sellers partner closely with U.S. federal agencies and large-growth global federal contractors to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, procurement cycles, and rigorous security and compliance standards—all while delivering real, measurable value.
The Workday Government Federal Sales organization is focused on helping agencies and their mission partners move beyond the friction of legacy systems. By adopting a secure, cloud-based platform for Human Capital Management (HCM) and Financial Management, our customers gain:
Real-Time Insights: Data-driven decision-making for leadership.

Data Transparency: Strengthening workforce readiness and financial accountability.
Global Scalability: Supporting the expansive reach of federal contractors operating worldwide.
About the Role
This is enterprise selling for professionals who value long-term relationships, strategic territory development, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact. You will be at the forefront of digital transformation across civilian, defense, intelligence agencies, and the global contractor community—backed by a platform federal leaders trust.
The Business Architect occupies the most technically demanding and highly influential position within the presales area of Workday Government. This role is far more than a typical sales engineering function; it positions you as a highly-respected, trusted advisor to Workday's most critical government/federal contractor customers and prospects.
In this pivotal capacity, you will be instrumental in leading and executing complex, high-stakes presales projects. Your expertise will be directly responsible for shaping customer decision-making, influencing their overall solution strategy, and ultimately driving mutually successful and transformative outcomes for the entities Workday Government serves.
A core responsibility involves expertly guiding Workday customers and prospects—from initial engagement through final proposal—on developing the optimal solution strategy. This requires deep technical acumen across the Workday platform, coupled with a thorough understanding of the unique compliance, security, and functional requirements of government organizations.
Success in this role mandates intentional and continuous collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders. You will work closely with the Solution Consulting and Sales team to articulate the technical and business value proposition, with Workday's Partner ecosystem to ensure scalable and comprehensive delivery, and with Product Management to advocate for necessary feature enhancements and roadmap alignment that address specific government needs. By synchronizing these efforts, the Business Architect is uniquely positioned to architect and create comprehensive, innovative, compliant solutions for a diverse portfolio of complex public sector opportunities.
Responsibilities Include:
Leading strategic sales opportunities and ensuring long-term customer success
Developing and delivering solution strategies, architectures, and deliverables
Advising the team on solutions and demonstrating value to stakeholders
Identifying key applications, systems, and dependencies for a comprehensive solution
Guiding the team through discovery, requirements gathering, and design decisions
Developing business architecture models, process flows, and capability maps
Working with partners and product management on packaged and bespoke solutions
Delivering presentations and software demonstrations on Workday's architecture, data model, interoperability and AI strategy
Act as a subject matter expert on federal security frameworks, leveraging a deep understanding of FedRAMP, DoD Impact Levels (IL4/IL5), and Air-Gapped environment requirements to build trust with agency stakeholders and navigate complex accreditation hurdles
Extensive experience in addressing Workday’s approach to support large, complex business IT environments, particularly integrations with legacy systems
Staying current on industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly in AI and ML particularly focused on the federal government
Ensuring tools and techniques are replicable and scalable across the organization

Our Approach to Flexible Work
With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
