Job Description:
We are seeking candidates for a Supply Chain Internship at our Zeeland, MI facility, which produces powertrain and safety components for Tier 1 automotive suppliers and OEMs. This position provides hands-on experience in your field of study while offering exposure to automotive manufacturing operations.
Throughout the 12–16 week internship, you will develop product knowledge, strengthen problem-solving and technical support skills, and gain insight into lean operations methodologies that drive supplier strategy, inventory management, and make vs. buy decisions. You will collaborate with fellow students, Strategic Sourcing experts, and the Zeeland Plant Management Team.
Assigned projects will focus on supplier selection, development, and performance tracking, with opportunities to make an immediate impact. This internship may lead to full-time employment upon successful completion.
Essential Functions:
- Implement strategic sourcing process improvements
- Resolve supplier billing issues
- Forecast future supplier requirements
- Document new and existing processes
- Assist with a wide variety of supplier relationship functions
- Analyze sourcing markets and develop expertise within those markets
- Develop sourcing strategies to increase innovation, reduce costs, and influence industry transformation
- Negotiate optimal agreements with suppliers based on business needs
- Demonstrate strong communication skills (oral and written)
Education & Experience:
- Progress toward a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Management, Operations, or a related field
- Rising junior or above with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Previous purchasing, logistics, or supply chain internship experience preferred
- Participation in a Supply Chain case competition team or similar student organization preferred
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization

- Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, and willingness to learn new tasks
