Markets Operations Belfast Overview

Our Operations groups are core to the success of the Markets business. We support a wide range of internal stakeholders including Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Compliance, Legal, Finance and HR; alongside having significant interaction with external clients, playing a key role in the overall client experience.

Job Purpose

This is an entry-level analyst role within the Securities Lending Middle Office, offering a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing and welcoming team. This team directly interacts with over 60 global clients and provides essential support to our trading desk across three key regions: Europe, Asia, and the United States.

The Analyst will be responsible for learning and assisting with the reconciliation of positions to ensure compliance with Citi’s credit requirements, prevent monthly billing issues, and meet regulatory obligations. This role will involve monitoring daily team tasks, contributing to management information (MI) on operational issues and trends, and supporting initiatives aimed at efficiency gains.

This is a high-profile global team with exposure to large volumes of trades and high-value items. The role involves daily engagement with clients, internal stakeholders, and third-party vendors to reconcile exception items and contribute to root cause identification and resolution. The successful candidate will receive supportive training and a personal development plan to help them succeed within this role and develop their career at Citi.

What you'll do

  • Learn to run daily reports and investigate data to identify and assist in resolving differences in trade economics.
  • Engage in regular communication with clients and trading desks, focusing on exception reconciliation under guidance.
  • Process trade amendments accurately as per instructions from the trading desks.
  • Contribute to enhancing the client experience by assisting in identifying process improvements to increase the automation of daily processes.
  • Learn to navigate and utilize multiple internal and vendor systems to find and help resolve exceptions.
  • Work efficiently to meet established deadlines and operational cut-offs.
  • Assist in identifying root causes of issues and collaborate with the team to propose resolutions.
  • Adhere to control standards and develop an understanding of regulatory requirements pertinent to securities lending.
  • Support the preparation and documentation of management reporting where required.
  • Build and develop foundational relationships with other internal teams and clients.

What we need from you

  • Previous relevant experience or a transferrable skillset is preferable but not essential.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in standard office applications.
  • Demonstrated teamwork capabilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
