Job Description

About Virtru:

While the rest of the security industry obsesses over locking data down to prevent it from being lost or stolen, we're doing something fundamentally different at Virtru. We're setting data free so that you can intentionally share it with others, but without sacrificing security, privacy, or control.

We've created both a suite of powerful data protection applications and an open platform that's sparking an ecosystem of innovation. Through the Trusted Data Format (TDF) open standard, we're not just protecting data; we're creating a new paradigm where security enables sharing rather than preventing it.

Think of us as the Android of data protection: a robust platform with an open core that developers and partners can build upon, coupled with our own best-in-class applications that showcase what's possible when you reimagine security from the ground up.

Backed by Iconiq Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Foundry Capital, and Tiger Global, we're helping Fortune 500 companies and government agencies discover that true data security means having the freedom to share, collaborate, and innovate — without compromise.

Compensation: $140,000 - $160,000

Team & Position Details:

At Virtru, we build products that protect data and enable trust. Our UX team partners closely with Product and Engineering to deeply understand customer needs, set a clear experience direction, and ship thoughtful, secure, and usable software.

We’re looking for a senior-level UX Designer with a honed craft, strong research instincts, and a high degree of ownership. This role is for someone who can work independently, make sound decisions with imperfect information, and consistently deliver high-quality UX in a complex B2B environment.

As a Senior UX Designer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Own UX problems end-to-end. Take work from discovery through execution with minimal oversight—framing the problem, validating direction, and delivering high-quality designs.
  • Lead your own research. Plan and conduct interviews, usability tests, and exploratory research; synthesize findings into clear insights that influence product direction.
  • Design with precision and speed. Create flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma, FigJam, and Figma Make, leveraging AI tools to explore and iterate efficiently.
  • Work through ambiguity. Make thoughtful tradeoffs across usability, security, technical constraints, and business goals.
  • Prototype and validate early. Build lightweight prototypes and run quick, scrappy testing when needed to reduce risk and improve outcomes.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering. Collaborate as an equal partner, not a service function, to shape priorities and solutions.
  • Communicate clearly. Present research findings and design decisions to teammates and leaders with confidence and clarity.
  • Raise the bar. Contribute to UX standards, accessibility, and design systems, and help improve the overall quality and consistency of our products.
  • Mentor by example. Provide guidance and feedback to other designers through strong craft and thoughtful critique.

Skills that will help you thrive in this role:

  • 6+ years of experience as a UX and Interaction Designer.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver high-quality UX with ownership and accountability.
  • Strong foundation in UX research, including interviewing, usability testing, and applying insights to product decisions.
  • Deep proficiency in Figma, FigJam, and Figma Make, with established, opinionated design patterns.
  • Experience designing complex B2B SaaS or enterprise products, ideally with admin or policy-driven interfaces.
  • Solid understanding of responsive design, acc
