This position is responsible for ensuring supply availability in support of product deliveries to attain company objectives for on time delivery, lead time and customer requirements. The Supply Planner ensures that materials are available in the supply chain and plan for inventory at acceptable levels. Work to identify if additional supply sources are required and assist with procurement efforts and determine the level of need for the items they must procure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures that rolling, weekly supply plan in system supports customer commitment dates – communicates both risks (gaps) and improvements.
- Works with OEM Vendors on shortage resolution, clear to build schedule and build plans in support of Ciena forecast. Ensures critical shortages and/or capacity constraints are identified and receives the appropriate action to close gaps as quickly as possible. Works effectively with suppliers to resolve supply gaps in support of production and NPI.
- Ensures supply plan is covering demand requirements in support of sales order and forecast demand. Provide PO coverage per current process.
- Effectively Communicates delivery commitments and changes. Supports expedite requests.
- Participates in cross functional OEM Vendor meetings, to ensure On Time build and customer shipments
- Performs “what if” analyses of potential opportunities to establish projected shipment dates
- Provides key input to suppliers in development of finished goods inventory stocking policies and agility strategies (including components) to ensure effective response to market demands while meeting inventory budgets.
- Responsible for communicating forecast/vendor drive information to supplier to drive inventory activities throughout the supply chain
- Coordinate “What-if” and Risk/Buy analysis to evaluate incremental purchase commitments required to support potential sales opportunities
- Proactively manages forecast and demand consumption along with supply and demand balancing to identify any potential risks or out-of-plan exceptions
- Owner of Supplier: On Time Delivery, Lead Time, Inventory and Safety Stock/Reorder Point Replenishment, Metrics as developed within Supply Planning
- Works cooperatively with others at all levels of the organization
SKILLS
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to work with vendors and employees at all levels throughout the organization
- Strong computer skills, especially in Excel, Word and Power Point
- Kinaxis Rapid Response (KRR) knowledge. Preferred but not required
- Experience on supervising/managing direct reports/people (3-5 Years or more)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough understanding of MRP
- Strategic thinker, strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data
- English Level: 90 % or more

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- University Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
- Minimum five years of experience in materials management functions
- A.P.I.C.S. certification preferred but not required
