Senior Analytical Laboratory Technician
The ideal candidate will provide assistance to the shift supervisor in coordinating the activities of all technicians assigned to the shift or helping lab chemist in performing instrument maintenance, repairs and preparation of reagents and solutions. Trains new technicians on shift and assists with development of new hires. Fills in for the shift supervisor or lab chemist when shift supervisor or lab chemist is absent. Must be proficient in any position on the shift and perform the same analytical duties as a regular technician.
What you’ll do?
Performs analyses proficiently in any position on the shift.
Must be able to work more than one position at a time on a regular basis, as required to meet the demands of heavy workloads, or due to technician absence.
Assists in planning and coordinating of analytical workflow and the establishment of the priority of sample analyses.
Assists in overseeing the review of shift lab data in OIS. Coaches' technicians on proper analytical techniques.
Assist in maintaining safety standards and proper housekeeping on the shift. Sr. Techs are set up as Shift Supervisors in the absence of New Wales Shift supervisor on the shift.
Assist lab chemist in maintaining and repairing lab instruments and equipment.
Provide analytical support for special projects.
Fill in for lab chemist at Bartow or Riverview during their absence.
Provide work direction to the team as well as timely and constructive feedback to ensure employees have a clear understanding of their work, roles, business goals and performance standards.
Manage performance issues when necessary.
Develop and coach employees in order to retain and grow organizational talent.
Support employees in their career development at Mosaic.
Trains new technicians to perform the duties of the assigned position.
Works with the supervisor to continue the development of experienced technicians.
Assists with plant lab problems (instruments and procedures) that occur on the shift.
What you’ll need:
High School Diploma or GED is required. Prefer an associate’s degree in chemistry or science
5-8 years’ experience working in a Laboratory is required
5-8 years’ experience in the Phosphates Industry is preferred
1-2 years’ experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Communications skills in needed
Leadership skills are desirable
Valid Driver’s license is required
