Job Description:

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW 

 
Co-op and Internship opportunities allow you to gain valuable work experience across a number of the businesses at TD. Our Co-op/Intern Programming is offered with select Co-op and Internship roles and is designed to help you better understand the TD business, build on critical career capabilities, and broaden your professional network. This program is designed to complement your on-the job experience and features:

  • Diversity and Inclusion and Personal Branding and so much more 

 

Wealth Credit and Market Risk Management works in partnership with various Wealth businesses to mitigate credit and market risks by assessing the exposures within our portfolio and identifying and resolving risk exposure for the organization. The department is responsible for the monitoring and compliance of credit risk management policies, including discretionary loan limits, and oversees TD Wealth’s market/credit risk portfolio across Canada and the US. 

The team is divided into three groups: 

1. Collateral Risk Management 

2. Market Risk Management 

3. Credit Risk Management 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

  • Analytical mind & critical thinker: Provides executives with loan recommendations by breaking down financial data into clear analytical insights; challenges assumptions and validates conclusions to identify underlying drivers of risk. 

  • Passion for the market: Stays on top of macro trends, sector dynamics, and market news, helping translate stock movements into risk implications. 

  • Inquisitive: Proactively investigates emerging issues and challenges the status quo; asks the right questions and investigate root causes to strengthen risk assessments, stress tests, and recommendations. 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/Commerce or related field 

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term (requirement of all co-op/intern positions) 

 

Overview of Work Provided 
The Coop student will support the Wealth Credit and Market Risk Management (WCMRM) team, which partners closely with TD Wealth businesses to assess, monitor, and mitigate credit and market risk exposures across the portfolio. The role will provide handson exposure to risk management practices, regulatory monitoring, and analytical reporting that support effective oversight of TD Wealth’s credit and market risk profile in Canada and the United States. 

Key Projects 
The Coop student will contribute to several core initiatives, including: 

  • Supporting the migration of risk and reporting processes in collaboration with the QA team. 

  • Assisting with concentration agreement analysis and related analytics. 

  • Participating in margin call validation activities. 

  • Preparing and maintaining sundry risk reports and analytical outputs. 

  • Contributing analytical support to adhoc projects and presentation materials for senior leadership, including the VP, Wealth Credit and Market Risk Management. 

Key Accountabilities 
The primary accountabilities of the Coop role include: 

  • Timely and accurate completion of assigned sundry reports. 

  • Ensuring data quality and consistency across risk and analytical outputs. 

  • Providing value added analysis and insights to support ongoing risk management initiatives. 

  • Collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders across risk, technology, and business teams. 

Education/Accreditations: 

  • Current university undergraduate student in a business/finance/quantitative discipline
