Job Description
Locus Robotics is a leader in the rapidly growing eCommerce order fulfillment optimization space. Ready to get hands-on with cutting-edge robotics? As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you’ll be in the middle of the action, designing, building, and optimizing the processes that bring our robots to life. Working alongside our engineering and production teams, you’ll gain real-world experience in fixture and process design, lab management, and process documentation. Expect to tackle fast-paced challenges, problem-solve on the fly, and make a tangible impact on production efficiency and quality.
Onsite position located at our Wilmington, MA headquarters, requiring five (5) days per week onsite. Only local candidates will be considered.
Internship period is May–August 2026, during standard business hours (Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET).
Responsibilities
- Support NPI builds of complex electro-mechanical assemblies, including process development, documentation, and validation activities.
- Assist in the design and development of tooling, fixtures, and test setups to support assembly operations and process controls.
- Coordinate with engineering and supply chain teams to procure components and materials for fixture and test equipment builds.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to optimize manufacturing processes using lean methodologies.
- Maintain documentation within the Quality Management System (QMS), including ECOs, validations, and related records.
Qualifications
- Ability to work onsite (Mon-Fri, 9am - 5pm) for 2026 Summer internship period (May - August).
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (rising junior or senior) pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Prior internship experience in a product-based electromechanical environment is preferred; hands-on experience through academic labs or project work will also be considered.
