The Opportunity
We are looking for a hands‑on, field‑based IT Support Engineer who thrives in face‑to‑face support and enjoys being the go‑to IT presence onsite.
This role is 100% focused on physical, in‑person IT support—providing “hands and feet” services across Johnson Controls sites in Australia. You’ll play a critical role in keeping our people connected, productive, and supported by working closely with end users, vendors, and remote IT teams.

This position is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract offering an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful contribution over the next year.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Field IT Support Engineer, you will:
Deliver onsite IT support for laptops, desktops, tablets, printers, mobile devices, operating systems, applications, and specialised hardware
Perform hardware and software installations, replacements, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management
Execute PC lifecycle and asset management, including leasing administration and invoicing
Provide white‑glove IT support to executives and VIPs, including meetings, town halls, and presentations
Act as Smart Hands support, liaising with vendors and remote IT teams for local interventions
Ensure adherence to IT security and compliance standards, including comms rooms setup, maintenance, and access control
Support onsite audits, maintain documentation, and track asset movements accurately
Set up and support conference rooms and AV systems (video conferencing, projectors, scanners, phones)
Provide satellite office and field support, with travel between sites as required
Coordinate onsite hardware deliveries and installations with external vendors
Manage local file server backups and update telecom expense records
Deliver onsite IT training and guidance to end users
Escalate complex issues to higher‑level support teams when required
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred)
ITIL, MCP, or tertiary qualification in ICT Support
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional, or equivalent are highly regarded
Experience & Skills
2–3 years’ experience in desktop or field IT support with onsite delivery
Strong face‑to‑face and written communication skills
Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively
Solid experience with Microsoft environments, including Windows 11, O365, and ServiceNow
Hands‑on knowledge of Intune, Autopilot, and endpoint staging/deployment
Working knowledge of IT hardware (PCs, servers, mobile and networking devices)
Familiarity with cabling standards and troubleshooting tools
Strong attention to detail and structured problem‑solving skills
Willingness to travel between sites as required
