Job Description

The MSL, Oncology (Lung and/or Head & Neck Cancers) will join a fast-growing Field Medical Affairs team focused on commercializing the novel Signatera™ molecular residual disease test to oncologists and cancer researchers across solid tumors, with particular emphasis on lung and/or head and neck cancers, along with complementary products and services in Natera’s oncology portfolio. In 2019, the FDA designated Signatera as a Breakthrough Device, and Medicare proposed to cover its use in patients with Stage II–III colorectal cancer as its first covered indication. We are looking for a smart, mission-oriented Medical Affairs professional who can communicate effectively and help us transform the management of cancer worldwide. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a key field-based scientific resource for clinicians, academic institutions, and professional organizations.

Travel Territory: Western United States 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide scientific and clinical presentations on Natera’s oncology products, specifically relevant to lung and/or head and neck cancers.

  • Address the specific needs of customers by responding to requests for information about our marketed and developing products across solid tumors.

  • Serve as a medical and scientific resource for the Natera Sales and Marketing teams, including participation in scientific updates and training with emphasis on lung and/or head and neck cancer data as appropriate.

  • Identify, develop, maintain, and manage collaborative working relationships with key academic and community physicians (“KOLs”) in oncology, including thoracic and/or head and neck surgeons, radiation oncology and medical oncology specialists. 

  • Develop research collaborations with leading KOLs and assist with registry study enrollment and sourcing/managing investigator-initiated trials (IIT) in solid tumors, focusing on lung and/or head and neck cancer opportunities.

  • Review and develop educational materials and slide content for healthcare providers and patients—incorporating tumor-type–specific scientific context—subject to approval by Medical Affairs and Marketing.

  • Assist in agenda planning and meeting facilitation of Clinical Advisory Boards and Symposia, involving thoracic and/or head and neck oncology experts.

  • This role works with PHI on a regular basis in both paper and electronic form and utilizes various technologies to securely access PHI in order to perform responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Health care professionals with relevant clinical sciences knowledge in oncology will be considered: Pharm.D, Ph.D., M.D., Doctoral-level Nurse Practitioners (DNP).

  • Prior MSL experience highly preferred; prior involvement with lung and/or head and neck oncology or clinical laboratory tests is also preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Outgoing and confident demeanor and independent thinker and persuasive communicator.
  • Experience establishing strong, collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, R&D) and external oncology customers in thoracic and/or head and neck 

  • Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining a strong teamwork ethic.
  • Outstanding oral presentation skills, particularly when conveying complex scientific concepts related to solid tumors.

  • Knowledge of molecular biology and clinical oncology helpful; familiarity with lung and/or head and neck cancer treatment landscapes is a plus.
