Monks is looking for a visionary Design Director to lead and elevate our global asset design capabilities. In this senior role, you’ll shape the creative direction for international brands, steering a team of world-class designers, illustrators, animators, and art directors to deliver bold, innovative, and scalable design solutions.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead Global Design Vision: Define and oversee creative strategies that bring brands to life across diverse mediums, spanning branding, digital, motion, and print.

  • Drive Innovation with AI & Emerging Tech: Leverage AI-driven design tools and workflows (e.g., generative AI for image creation, layout automation, or motion prototypes) to push boundaries in efficiency and creativity.

  • Creative Leadership: Mentor, inspire, and guide a distributed global team, fostering a culture of design excellence, collaboration, and experimentation.

  • Quality & Consistency: Ensure creative output meets the highest aesthetic standards, aligns with brand guidelines, and delivers impact across formats, platforms, and markets.

  • Strategic Partnering: Work closely with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to shape creative narratives, define design systems, and deliver world-class brand experiences.

  • Operational Mastery: Balance speed, scale, and style, overseeing design pipelines, optimizing workflows, and ensuring efficiency without compromising quality.

  • Creative Exploration: Continuously explore trends in design, AI, and technology to elevate creative outcomes and inspire innovative solutions for global campaigns.

Requirements

We’re looking for a Design Director with proven expertise in creative leadership and advanced design execution:

  • Experience: 12+ years of high-level design experience, including at least 4 years in a leadership or director role overseeing branding, digital, and motion design.

  • AI & Tech Proficiency: Strong understanding of AI-powered design tools (e.g., MidJourney, DALL·E, Runway, Stable Diffusion, or Adobe Firefly) and ability to integrate them into creative workflows.

  • Design Mastery: Exceptional command of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Figma. Proficiency in After Effects is essential; experience in 3D (Blender, Cinema 4D) is a significant advantage.

  • Global Collaboration: Skilled at working with international teams across time zones, with excellent communication and client-facing skills in English.

  • Creative Excellence: A portfolio that demonstrates innovation, storytelling, and high-level craft across branding, motion, and integrated campaigns.

  • Organizational Strength: Strong ability to manage complex projects, streamline creative workflows, and uphold file, layer, and asset management best practices.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to mentor teams, present ideas to C-level stakeholders, and align creative direction with business and brand strategy.
