Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Director of Product Strategy is responsible for shaping, developing, and managing a portfolio of pharmacy products across the full product lifecycle—from concept and development through launch and ongoing optimization. This role also leads the evaluation and decisioning of pharmacy non-standard client exceptions and supports pharmacy product compliance activities.
This leader drives strategic product initiatives that support customer growth, client retention, affordability, and differentiated client and customer experiences. The Director of Product Strategy partners closely with cross-functional teams across Cigna and Evernorth and is expected to operate as a strategic problem solver, trusted subject matter expert, and collaborative people leader who can manage complexity, prioritize effectively, and deliver results at scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Leadership & Portfolio Management
Lead and develop a team responsible for the design, launch, and ongoing management of pharmacy products.
Own portfolio performance, ensuring alignment with pharmacy product objectives and broader enterprise goals.
Monitor in-market product performance and guide the development of reporting and insights for sales, clients, and leadership.
Strategy, Positioning & Growth
Define and evolve product positioning, launch strategies, and communication plans to support adoption and sustainable growth.
Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new product development opportunities and portfolio enhancements.
Provide strategic input into the future direction and focus areas of the Pharmacy Product organization.
Client Exceptions & Compliance
Oversee evaluation and decision-making for pharmacy non-standard client exceptions.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support escalated client requests and deliver timely, well-reasoned decisions.
Provide support for pharmacy product compliance, including state and federal considerations and product filing activities as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence
Serve as a primary subject matter expert for pharmacy products, supporting executive-level understanding and engagement.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve product design, build, launch, and operational challenges.
Partner with Sales and Account Management to support training, collateral development, and initiatives that drive adoption and client growth.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships through clear, consistent communication.
Contribute to pharmacy product best practices and continuous improvement efforts.
Share subject matter expertise to support the development of current and future leaders across the organization.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in healthcare; MBA preferred.
8+ years of experience in product development, product management, or business development, including people leadership experience.
Working knowledge of pharmacy benefit management and/or healthcare products.
Strong financial, analytical, and quantitative skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into executive-ready materials.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups)
Experience leading and influencing remote or geographically dispersed teams.
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 161,900 - 269,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
