Job Description
Devices and Services Trust, Privacy, and Accessibility (TPA) is responsible for maintaining and raising the trust bar for Amazon customers across a diverse set of 30+ Devices and Services (D&S). TPA offers horizontal services for builders to ensure trust, privacy, and accessibility is built into our products and services. We also build customer-facing capabilities that provide customers with control and transparency and reduce privacy risk, while enabling partner teams to innovate with appropriate guardrails for content moderation, privacy, accessibility, and trust.
TPA is seeking a Privacy Specialist to create and own builder-facing privacy policies and assess privacy controls for Alexa. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, have excellent writing, critical thinking, project and stakeholder management skills, and experience advising directors, vice presidents, and senior vice presidents on how to approach novel product privacy and/or artificial intelligence risks. We’re looking for someone who feels excited and empowered to create frameworks that solve complex problems to protect customer privacy at the scale and speed of our business and ensure consistent, trust-promoting, intuitive, and delightful customer experiences.
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities include working with senior team members, builders, engineers, product, legal, PR, marketing, and other privacy and security teams across Amazon to:
* Develop frameworks to ensure consistent treatment of high privacy risks across D&S products and features
* Create, own, and manage product privacy policies and standards
* Document privacy controls that enforce customer promise and policy requirements
* Conduct assessments of privacy controls to evaluate their operational effectiveness
* Validate that privacy controls align with our customer promises and internal policies
* Identify gaps in privacy control implementations and recommend corrective actions
* Drive corrective actions to closure, escalating effectively and proactively to senior leaders where needed
* Conduct change management to ensure awareness and implementation of privacy requirements
* Monitor privacy regulations, industry frameworks, and business developments to update privacy requirements as needed
* Assess, monitor, and report the health and performance of privacy requirements implementation
A day in the life
This is an inherently cross-functional role where you will work directly with engineers, product managers, policy and compliance specialists, legal, PR, marketing, and other Amazon builders to help them identify the need for new or changed privacy policies and hold them accountable for implementing mechanisms to enforce them. You will use your privacy expertise and demonstrate your excellent writing skills and experience driving alignment among diverse stakeholders. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment with quick turnaround times, rapid iteration and pivots, and data-driven decision-making.

- Experience managing competing priorities and using metrics to drive business decisions
- 6+ years of privacy compliance experience
- Excellent written, critical thinking, project, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to translate complex requirements into simple and actionable language
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high complexity and ambiguity, many diverse stakeholders, and large volumes of data at scale
- Experience influencing senior leaders/stakeholders
- Experience working within a high-growth technology company
- At least 1 International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certification
- Experience building, owning, and maturing privacy compliance programs from scratch

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent- Experience managing competing priorities and using metrics to drive business decisions
- 6+ years of privacy compliance experience
- Excellent written, critical thinking, project, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to translate complex requirements into simple and actionable language
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high complexity and ambiguity, many diverse stakeholders, and large volumes of data at scale
Preferred Qualifications
- J.D., or Master's degree- Experience influencing senior leaders/stakeholders
